Essential Job Functions

1. Always maintain a valid driver’s license and an “acceptable” driving record and be responsible for driving Center vans or other vehicles. Report all traffic citations to personnel office immediately and in writing.

2. Driving Center vehicles is strictly prohibited for anyone under the age of 21.

3. Meet personal care needs of each person served including toileting, skin care, bathing, feeding, etc.

4. Provide quality supervision and interaction with person served.

5. Assist with nursing procedures and treatments as indicated or assigned.

6. Assisting and accompanying person served on field trips and other recreational activities.

7. Provide and participate in routine and assigned housekeeping duties and to keep the person served in area and other training areas neat, clean and safe. Complete and submit maintenance requests to manager for problem items.

8. Participate, provide and assist with any programmatic and habilitative services and instructional programs as designated, including active treatment.

9. Attend staff meetings.

10. Keep abreast of all necessary safety and precautionary measures to ensure the well-being of person served.

11. Fill out and submit accident/incident reports immediately following an incident.

12. Participate in in-service training as required.

13. Respond to person served' needs as they arise.

14. Complete all required documentation promptly, neatly, legibly.

15. Maintain a minimum Compliance/Completion score for all training.

16. Participate as a member of the interdisciplinary team as required.

17. Routinely lift up to 40 pounds independently and routinely lift from 41 to 140 pounds with the assistance of one additional person.

18. Perform other related duties as required. 


Minimum Education/Experience

High School Graduate or GED Certificate required. Preference given to those applicants with experience working with individuals having severe/profound developmental disabilities or those who have multiple handicaps.


Recruitment Standards

1. Relate well with person served and family members.

2. Establish and maintain an effective working relationship with families and staff at the Center.

3. Learn established techniques and procedures related to the person served program.

4. Learn basic bedside nursing skills and training techniques.

5. Demonstrate safe, responsible and productive work with minimal supervision.

6. Adequately follow oral and written instructions in performing paraprofessional, technical and therapeutic health care tasks.

7. Routinely lift up to 40 pounds independently and routinely lift from 41 to 140 pounds with the assistance of one additional person.

8. Must have valid North Carolina driver's license and be insurable by the Center's liability insurance carrier.

9. Must be 18 years of age.

Full-time, 1st and 2nd shifts available. Must be available to work every other weekend. PRN positions also available!
