Job Summary
The Shipping Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all outbound shipping activities in the warehouse. This role ensures timely and accurate order fulfillment, staff coordination, and compliance with shipping standards.
Essential Responsibilities
Supervise daily outbound operations and staff in the shipping area.
Coordinate order staging, packing, and shipping schedules.
Ensure shipment accuracy and timely carrier pickups.
Train and coach team members on procedures and safety practices.
Monitor productivity and address performance concerns as needed.
Collaborate with other departments to resolve order or inventory issues.
Maintain accurate records of shipments and resolve discrepancies.
The shipping supervisor ensures that drivers operate company trucks safely and comply with DOT regulations and verifies that drivers complete accurate pre-trip inspections and ensures any truck issues are reported promptly and properly.
Ability to follow instructions and adapt to changing priorities.
Utilize Dispatch Management Systems to efficiently dispatch and coordinate multiple routes.
Qualifications & Skills
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s degree preferred.
Previous warehouse or shipping leadership experience preferred.
Familiarity with inventory and shipping systems (WMS, ERP). Dispatch Management Systems
Strong organizational and leadership skills.
Effective communication and problem-solving abilities.
Physical & Work Environment
Walk the warehouse floor frequently throughout the shift.
Regularly lift, carry, and move boxes weighing up to 50 lbs.
Work in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
Operate near shipping docks and material handling equipment.
