Description

Job Summary: The Junior Network & Systems Administrator supports the daily operation and maintenance of the organization’s on-premise and cloud-based IT infrastructure under the guidance of senior IT staff. This role assists with server, network, endpoint, and Microsoft 365 administration to help ensure secure, reliable, and efficient technology services.


The position focuses on hands-on technical support, system monitoring, basic administration tasks, and issue resolution at the Tier 1/2 level, with opportunities to learn and grow into more advanced infrastructure and security responsibilities over time.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. 

  • Assist with administration and maintenance of Windows Server environments and basic Linux systems
  • Support Microsoft 365 services including Entra ID (Azure AD), Exchange Online, Intune, Group Policy, and file servers
  • Perform routine system monitoring, patching, updates, and maintenance tasks
  • Assist with backup operations, restores, and disaster recovery procedures
  • Escalate complex infrastructure issues to senior IT staff as needed
  • Assist with basic network support including switches, VLANs, and connectivity troubleshooting
  • Support firewall, VPN, and network access issues under supervision (FortiGate experience a plus)
  • Monitor network alerts and assist with resolving connectivity or performance issues.
  • Follow security best practices related to access  control, endpoint protection, and data protection
  • Provide support for Windows and macOS desktops and laptops.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, operating system, and user software issues.
  • Assist with endpoint security tools including antivirus, encryption, patching, and device management
  • Support new user onboarding, device provisioning, and offboarding activities.
  • Maintain and update technical documentation,  procedures, and basic network or system diagrams
  • Respond to incidents, service requests, and outages; participate in after-hours support on a limited or rotating basis
  • Work with internal teams and vendors to support business and production operations
  • Assist with IT projects, upgrades, and infrastructure changes or other projects as assigned


Requirements

  • 2-4  years of experience in IT support, systems administrator, or network administration roles 
  • Experience with Windows Server, basic Linux, and Microsoft 365 (Entra ID, Exchange Online, Intune, Group Policy) 
  • Intermediate experience with networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, VLANs, switching, and connectivity troubleshooting 
  • Experience supporting firewalls and VPNs (FortiGate exposure preferred) 
  • Ability to perform system monitoring, patching, updates, and maintenance 
  • Knowledge of backup, restore, and disaster recovery procedures 
  • Experience supporting Windows and macOS endpoints (hardware, OS, and software issues) 
  • Familiarity with endpoint security tools (antivirus, encryption, patching, device management) 
  • Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and issue escalation abilities 
  • Effective communication skills with a customer-focused approach 
  • Adaptability in fast-paced or changing environments 
  • Time management and task prioritization across multiple requests
