JOB SUMMARY:
The Environmental Compliance Coordinator (ECC) is responsible for facilitating the development, implementation, monitoring, reporting, training and recordkeeping of environmental compliance and waste management procedures and activities throughout the MER Companies. The ECC performs a variety of reporting and administrative duties, particularly in the areas of waste storage, transportation and disposal. This position is expected to serve as a technical resource for our operations team and is expected to spend time in the field as appropriate to support operations in highly dynamic environments.
Additionally, this position will also be responsible for data entry relating to company licensing and researching environmental licensing and permit requirements across various states and cities. This position will report to the Environmental Compliance Program Manager and will be responsible for completing assignments as directed.
Job Responsibilities:
- Environmental and Waste Program Support
- Audit waste generation, transportation and storage activities.
- Work with Operations Team to implement practical solutions and best practices to address areas of non-compliance.
- Conduct audits of proper preparation and reconciliation of shipping-related documents.
- Assist with acquiring and maintaining licenses and permits associated with environmental regulations
- Work with local management to maintain compliance with regulatory and client-required reporting.
- Training Delivery
- In partnership with the organization’s Training Team, conduct and/or facilitate training sessions for employees at all levels, ensuring understanding and compliance with environmental compliance protocols and proper utilization of the tools and resources the organization has as it relates to environmental and waste compliance.
- Utilize various teaching methods and technologies to effectively deliver training content.
- Adapt training approaches to accommodate diverse learning styles and audiences.
- Environmental Regulatory Compliance
- Stay abreast of local, state, and federal safety regulations relevant to the organization's operations.
- Assist in ensuring the applicable training programs meet compliance standards and address specific regulatory requirements.
- Monitor changes in regulations and work with team to update training materials and programs accordingly.
- Support operations team with interpretations of regulatory requirements so that compliance can be maintained in dynamic projects.
- Corporate Culture Promotion
- Foster a culture of compliance by promoting awareness, accountability, and proactive risk assessment.
- Collaborate with management to integrate compliance principles into daily operations and decision-making processes.
- Encourage employee participation in compliance initiatives and feedback mechanisms.
- Engage with front line employees to understand the context of operation requirements in order to provide a high quality of support to the organization.
- Evaluation and Improvement
- Develop and implement assessment methods to evaluate the effectiveness of environmental and waste programs.
- Collect and analyze feedback from management to identify strengths and areas for improvement.
- Continuously refine program and best practices to enhance effectiveness and engagement.
- Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of and databases containing information related to environmental and waste activities.
- Prepare reports on environmental and waste metrics, compliance status, and related performance for management review utilizing various methods including but not limited to Power Bi.
- Ensure documentation meets regulatory requirements and organizational standards.
- Licensing and Qualifications Program
- Conduct comprehensive research on environmental and business licensing requirements in various jurisdictions.
- Regularly interact with regulatory agencies and authorities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to prepare and submit applications and similar documents associated with permitting and licensing.
- Prepare reports on permitting and licensing metrics, compliance status, and related performance for management review utilizing various methods including but not limited to Power Bi.
- Assist in maintaining accurate compliance parameters within the Company’s databases to ensure proper organization notifications.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Public Health Safety or a related field required.
- 1-4 years of experience with preparing, filing and completing legal and business documents preferred but not required.
- 1- 4 years of experience preparing permits reports and forms associated with environmental regulations preferred but not required
- 1-4 years of environmental compliance experience in heavy industry preferred but not required .
- Environmental investigation and remediation experience and familiarity with OSHA and EPA regulations is desired.
- Completed training and certifications for HAZWOPER, DOT HAZMAT, RCRA or the ability to obtain.
- Experience in managing/handling compliance issues, permitting, manufacturing operations, OSHA/EPA programs, regulatory reviews, permit preparation, reporting and record keeping is desired.
- Experience with regulatory and/or other statutory compliance and administration is preferred.
- Experience in communicating with government and regulatory agencies is desired.
- Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office, internet and other office applications is required.
- Proven experience analyzing data and displaying written and graphic reports to communicate results.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills with ability to meet deadlines is required.
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to apply complex technical skills and knowledge to address compliance issues.
- Ability to independently research, analyze and interpret regulations.
- Exceptional communication/interpersonal skills required.
- Experience implementing change and process improvements.
- Experience working with a diverse workforce of varying education levels and cultures.
- Ability to work in excess of regularly scheduled hours when necessary.
- Ability to travel overnight as required by business needs.
- Valid driver’s license.

This is a salary position; the hiring range for the Environmental Compliance Coordinator (ECC) position in Randolph, MA is: $68,249/year - $88,875/year
The actual salary offered will be determined based on multiple factors including but not limited to relevant skills and experience.
