We're looking for an individual with flexible skills who can provide support in the following areas to help meet our mission:

Duties:

  • Serve as backup to the Manager of Fleet/Facilities, including on-call responsibilities as required.

  • Inspect MBS facilities routinely to identify maintenance, repair, safety, and operational needs.

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair HVAC, refrigeration, electrical, plumbing, pneumatic, mechanical, and building automation systems.

  • Perform preventive maintenance to improve equipment reliability, extend useful life, and reduce unexpected service interruptions.

  • Diagnose and repair commercial HVAC and refrigeration equipment, including split systems, package units, air handlers, heat pumps, chillers, boilers, coolers, freezers, and ice machines.

  • Troubleshoot electrical systems, motors, controls, wiring, and related components within the scope of training and authorization.

  • Perform plumbing maintenance and minor repairs, including fixtures, valves, washers, drains, and related components.

  • Perform general building maintenance, including light bulb replacement, fixture installation, painting, touch-ups, minor carpentry, and routine repairs.

  • Utilize welding, fabrication, machining, and mechanical repair skills for maintenance projects and equipment repairs as appropriate.

  • Maintain working knowledge of facility systems, equipment specifications, operating requirements, and applicable safety procedures.

  • Perform equipment start-up, operational testing, and verification as required.

  • Coordinate with contractors and service providers regarding installation, start-up, repair, and maintenance activities.

  • Assist with estimates and quotes for repairs, equipment, parts, and contracted services.

  • Maintain records of preventive maintenance, repairs, inspections, and equipment service.

  • Maintain a valid Class B CDL with air brake endorsement and safely operate MBS vehicles.

  • Assist with regular inspection and preventive maintenance schedules for all fleet vehicles.

  • Identify vehicle maintenance and repair needs and ensure concerns are communicated and addressed promptly.

  • Assist with maintaining current vehicle registrations, licenses, inspections, and required documentation.

  • Conduct or assist with driver safety training, testing, and vehicle-operation instruction as needed.

  • Maintain effective working relationships with MBS drivers to encourage timely communication regarding vehicle maintenance, safety concerns, and mechanical issues.

  • Assist in coordinating outside vendors for vehicle maintenance and repairs when services cannot be performed internally.

  • Maintain appropriate fleet maintenance and inspection documentation.

  • Assist in identifying and arranging qualified vendor services for major repairs, preventive maintenance, and facility improvement projects.

  • Independently prioritize assigned maintenance activities while communicating status, scheduling needs, and operational concerns to management.

  • Respond to urgent maintenance issues and assist in restoring facility or equipment operations as quickly and safely as possible.

  • Maintain maintenance tools, equipment, supplies, and work areas in a safe and organized condition.

  • Follow applicable OSHA, DOT, environmental, electrical, refrigerant-handling, and workplace safety requirements.

  • Assist with special projects and provide maintenance or operational support to other departments as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Technical or trade education in electrical systems, HVAC/refrigeration, industrial maintenance, mechanical systems, or a related field preferred.

  • Electrical studies or comparable technical training strongly preferred.

  • Demonstrated experience in commercial or industrial facility maintenance, HVAC/refrigeration service, electrical systems, plumbing, mechanical equipment, and preventive maintenance.

  • Experience diagnosing and repairing commercial HVAC and refrigeration systems strongly preferred.

  • Experience working with contractors, vendors, and service providers preferred.

  • Fleet maintenance degree and two to four years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Degree may be substituted with over five years of mechanical/automotive repair experience and two years of general facility repair experience.

  • Class B CDL with Air Brake Endorsement required or must be obtained within an established period following hire.

  • EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification preferred.

  • NATE Certification preferred.

  • Mitsubishi City Multi or comparable VRF installation, start-up, and advanced service training preferred.

  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record required.

  • Additional HVAC, electrical, mechanical, safety, or facilities-related certifications are desirable.
