Position Summary:
We are looking for a dependable and skilled Maintenance Technician to support operations in our lumber yard. This role requires strong carpentry experience and working knowledge of electrical and plumbing systems. The technician will be responsible for maintaining buildings, equipment, and yard infrastructure to ensure a safe and efficient working environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform routine and emergency maintenance across the lumber yard, including buildings, equipment, and outdoor structures.
Execute carpentry tasks such as repairing or constructing shelving, fencing, gates, and other wood-based structures.
Assist with basic electrical repairs including lighting, outlets, and minor wiring issues.
Support plumbing maintenance including pipe repairs, fixture replacements, and water system upkeep.
Conduct inspections and preventative maintenance to minimize downtime and ensure safety.
Operate tools and equipment safely and efficiently in an outdoor, industrial setting.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and materials used.
Collaborate with yard and production teams to support operational needs.
Qualifications:
Minimum 3 years of carpentry experience, preferably in an industrial or outdoor setting.
Basic experience in electrical and plumbing systems.
Ability to work in varying weather conditions and physically demanding environments.
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications are a plus.
Ability to read, manuals, and safety documentation.
Preferred Skills:
Experience working in a lumber yard, warehouse, or similar industrial setting.
Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and procedures.
Ability to operate forklifts, skid steers, or other yard equipment (certification preferred).
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
