We are seeking a compassionate and dependable Caregiver / Medication Aide to support residents across Assisted Living and Memory Care. In this role, you will provide hands-on personal care, administer medications, and create meaningful daily experiences that help residents feel safe, valued, and truly at home.

What You'll Do:

Resident Care:

  • Assist residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, mobility, transfers, and positioning.
  • Support residents with meals, hydration, snacks, supplements, and feeding assistance as needed.
  • Promote resident safety, comfort, dignity, independence, and personal choice.
  • Build meaningful relationships through conversation, companionship, and emotional support.
  • Utilize person-centered and dementia-informed care practices to support residents experiencing cognitive challenges.

Medication Administration:

  • Administer medications and treatments as delegated by nursing staff and in accordance with state regulations.
  • Ensure accurate, safe, and timely medication delivery.
  • Monitor residents for medication effectiveness, side effects, and changes in condition.
  • Maintain medication security, accountability, and proper storage procedures.
  • Accurately document medication administration and treatments in the Medication Administration Record (MAR).

Resident Experience:

  • Respond promptly to call lights and resident requests.
  • Encourage participation in activities, dining, and social engagement opportunities.
  • Observe resident mood, behavior, and overall well-being.
  • Help create a warm, welcoming, and home-like environment where residents feel heard, respected, and connected.

Documentation & Communication:

  • Accurately document resident care, medication administration, behaviors, intake, and observations.
  • Communicate changes in health status, behavior, or care needs to nursing leadership.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure continuity of care across shifts.
  • Maintain regulatory and organizational documentation standards.

Teamwork & Community:

  • Work collaboratively with nursing, culinary, housekeeping, and life enrichment teams.
  • Participate in training, team meetings, and professional development opportunities.
  • Promote a positive, respectful, and service-focused work environment.

Safety & Compliance:

  • Follow all company policies, state regulations, and federal guidelines.
  • Adhere to OSHA, infection control, and safety standards.
  • Maintain confidentiality of resident and organizational information.
  • Help maintain a clean, safe, and organized community.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Ability to pass a background check.
  • TB testing as required by state regulations.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to perform physical caregiving duties, including lifting, bending, standing, and assisting residents with mobility.

Preferred:

  • South Dakota Medication Aide certification/licensure or willingness to complete training.
  • Experience working with seniors, Assisted Living, Memory Care, or healthcare services.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
