Are you a skilled Construction Technician seeking to elevate your career? Are you adept at achieving property occupancy goals while prioritizing resident happiness? Come join our vibrant team in Rapid City, SD!

Mission: The construction Technician will be responsible for comprehensive renovation and remodeling tasks in residential apartments. This includes demolition, construction, and finishing work to ensure units are in optimal condition for new and existing residents. The role requires significant construction experience, particularly in sheetrock work, as well as proficiency in a variety of other skills essential for high-quality remodeling. 


Accountabilities: 

  • Perform demolition and comprehensive remodeling of residential apartments according to project specifications.
  • Complete assigned tasks and projects while staying within the allocated budget, minimizing costs without compromising on quality or safety standards.
  • Identify any work that cannot be completed in-house, prepare detailed bids or cost estimates for these tasks, and present them to the Rapid City Maintenance Manager for review and approval.
  • Construct and repair the structural framework of residential units.
  • Install and repair plumbing systems, including pipes, fixtures, and appliances.
  • Conduct basic electrical tasks such as wiring, outlet installation, and light fixture replacement.
  • Install, repair, and finish sheetrock with precision and attention to detail.
  • Install and repair various types of flooring, including tile, hardwood, and laminate.
  • Perform trim work, including baseboards, crown molding, and door/window casings.
  • Install and repair kitchen and bathroom cabinets.
  • Prepare surfaces and apply paint to walls, ceilings, and trim.
  • Install and replace windows in residential units.
  • Troubleshoot and repair household appliances.
  • Ensure positive resident relations by addressing maintenance requests and concerns professionally and promptly.
  • Ensure all work complies with local building codes and regulations.
  • Collaborate with other team members and contractors to complete projects efficiently.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to all safety protocols.
  • Document work progress and report any challenges or delays to the Rapid City Maintenance Manager.

Education, Training and Qualifications 

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in residential construction and remodeling, with extensive knowledge of sheetrock work.
  • Skills: Proficiency in framing, plumbing, electrical, flooring, trim work, cabinet installation, painting, window installation, and appliance repair.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical or trade school education is a plus.
  • Software Proficiency: Experience with property management software (e.g., AppFolio, Yardi, MRI) is preferred.
  • Availability: Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry heavy materials and equipment, work at heights and in confined spaces, and stand, kneel, and crouch for extended periods.
  • Valid Driver’s License is required to complete the essential functions of the position (completing remodeling of apartments at different Tzadik properties).

Employee must have their own tools. 

 

Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk; stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; reach with hands and arms and stoop, squat, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Ability to work outside in all weather conditions including seasonally hot or cold temperatures and inclement weather. 

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
