Black Hills Medical Group is seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented full-time Phlebotomist to join our growing team. We are an independent, physician-owned practice committed to providing exceptional patient-centered care. Position Summary

The Phlebotomist is responsible for collecting high-quality blood specimens, ensuring accurate laboratory documentation and billing, reviewing provider orders, and providing an exceptional experience for every patient. This position plays an important role in supporting our providers and delivering timely, accurate laboratory services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection on patients of all ages.
  • Review patient charts and provider orders to ensure laboratory testing is accurate and complete.
  • Verify patient identification and follow established specimen collection protocols.
  • Process, label, prepare, and package specimens for transport according to laboratory standards.
  • Complete laboratory billing procedures accurately and efficiently.
  • Maintain accurate documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Monitor and maintain laboratory supplies and notify appropriate staff when inventory is low.
  • Follow OSHA, CLIA, HIPAA, and infection prevention standards.
  • Assist with quality control procedures and maintain a clean, organized laboratory environment.
  • Communicate professionally with providers, nursing staff, and patients regarding laboratory orders and specimen requirements.
  • Deliver outstanding customer service by creating a welcoming, respectful, and compassionate experience for every patient.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support clinic operations.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of an accredited phlebotomy training program preferred.
  • Current phlebotomy certification preferred (ASCP, NHA, NCCT, or equivalent).
  • Previous phlebotomy experience in a physician clinic or healthcare setting required.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records and basic computer applications.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a multidisciplinary team.
