Summary
This is staff work of a varied nature as assistant to an administrative or elected official. Incumbent in this classification perform some responsible administrative duties involving the exercise of independent judgment. This work includes interpreting rules and procedures, planning, assigning and reviewing the work of technical and/or clerical employees performing general or specialized work. The work of an incumbent is subject to review by a higher official.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Analyzes administrative problems, makes recommendations for solution to superior.
Serves in a confidential role to the superior in matters involving policy and personnel.
Plans, assigns and reviews the work of technical and clerical staff engaged in general or specialized duties.
Prepares the paperwork for the superior.
Assists in the preparation of the agency or departmental budget and maintains records pertaining to the organization.
When the superior is absent, makes non-major decisions for the organization.
Represent superior in contact with the public or in meetings with other organizations, when requested to do so.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university in a field related to the above described duties and three (3) years of professional experience in same
or
A high school diploma or GED and seven (7) years of professional experience as described above
