Summary: 

This role will support engineering test and development activities at a Largescale Automotive OEM for objective testing of Brake systems for performance and durability in a Dynamometer.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support the engineering test activities by applying engineering principles, experiences, and various analysis tools in following established test plans/procedures to test Brake system parts/components to determine design feasibility and ensure parts/components meet design acceptance criteria, performance level targets and any applicable regulatory/internal standards. 
  • Analyze and resolve problems with moderate level of guidance and direction. 
  • Perform system/sub-system level tests in the lab/dyno for objective evaluation. 
  • Support instrumentation and scheduling for test preparation. 
  • Support troubleshooting/service/maintenance/repair of the Dynamometer. 
  • Utilize data acquisition tools and other systems as needed for test data collection and analysis. 
  • Create technical documents and reports to communicate test results and objective evaluation achievement. 
  • Support countermeasure development and implementation activities. 
  • Support process improvement activities if/as needed. 
  • Support additional domain test activities if/as needed. 
  • Travel to client / test sites required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 3+ years experience of performance and durability testing for Automotive brakes in a Dynamometer. 
  • Education with the following specialties preferred: Mechanical, Mechanical Technology, Aerospace, Automotive, Manufacturing. 
  • Minimum 2yrs experience using Data Acquisition tools. 
  • Experience using Brake Dynamometers from Link preferred. 
  • Test track / driving experience required for test driving. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Proficiency in MS office. 
  • Formula SAE (FSAE), BAJA SAE, EcoCar, Mini BAJA SAE, experience. 
  • Hands on experience with wrenching, Dynamometer set up/troubleshooting and instrumentation.
