CNC Programmer

 

Hours are 6:30am – 3:00pm Monday thru Friday. 

 

With general supervision, the CNC Programmer applies CAD and CAM knowledge to the design and manufacture of thermoformed prototypes, production tools, production/machine components and other items that require CNC manufacturing.  Employee may perform other duties as required to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Programs prototypes, production tooling, and any CNC machined components in conjunction with the Engineering staff.
  • Applies CAD/CAM knowledge and skills.
  • Creates setup sheet to be used by CNC setup/operators.
  • Performs routine maintenance on CNC equipment.
  • Develops post processors for new software and CNC equipment.
  • Implements high-speed machining techniques consistent with the latest technologies.
  • Improves tool paths and mold surface finish with proper programming, tooling, equipment and software.
  • Maintains a clean and safe work area.
  • Serves as a backup for the CNC Operator position.
  • Trains new CNC Operators as needed.

 

Essential Skills: 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, two Years previous machine shop experience or equivalent preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Meticulous attention to detail. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees of the organization.
  • Basic ability to calculate figures utilizing drawings dimensions.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to read measuring equipment including but not limited to; calipers, micrometers, height gauges, tape measure, hole gauges, depth gauges, etc
