POSITION STATEMENT

This position is for a Master’s-level student currently enrolled in Social Work (MSW) or Counseling programs for internship opportunities. We welcome both foundation and advanced-year MSW interns, as well as Counseling students completing their practicum or internship requirements. Interns will work in various capacities across the facility, gaining hands-on experience with clinical services, client support, and administrative operations in an outpatient psychiatric clinic setting, 

 

INTERN RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE

  • Will assist with and provide direct services to clients under supervision
  • Conducts intake assessments with client and family members utilizing appropriate intake materials and continually assesses client needs, service availability and appropriateness.
  • Participates in case consultation with Clinical Supervisor. 
  • Provides therapeutic interventions to the identified client in order to enhance and foster the client’s optimal functioning and interactions in the home and community. 
  • Works cooperatively with treatment team members and the family in the provision of services to meet the goals developed 
  • Provides the appropriate documentation for service delivery including treatment goals, progress notes
  • Provides clinical documentation that is ethical and supported by treatment goals
  • Assist with documentation, scheduling and data entry
  • Support client records management and quality assurance practices
  • Participating in audits, compliance monitoring, or special projects
  • Assisting with program development, community outreach and resource building
  • Learning about regulatory and billing processes relevant to behavioral health

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to manage emotional situations in a calm and professional manner
  • Excellent organization and planning 
  • Computer skills and knowledge of relevant software


PREFERRED EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: 

  • None required

 

EDUCATION

  • Enrolled in a Master’s degree program in a Mental Health field (e.g.: Social Work, Psychology, Counseling)
