Your Role and Responsibilities

 

We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused CDL Driver to support the daily operations of chemical distribution. This role involves the safe and efficient operation of Class 8 tractors and related equipment to transport hazardous and non-hazardous materials, including both liquid and dry products.

Responsibilities include performing bulk and packaged deliveries, executing proper loading and unloading procedures, completing required documentation, and ensuring compliance with DOT, OSHA, and Brenntag’s safety standards. Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate Class 8 tractors, trailers, and related equipment in compliance with DOT, OSHA, and site‑specific regulations.
  • Handle packaged deliveries including drums, IBCs, pallets, and supersacks; manage the full delivery process including loading/unloading, securement, and paperwork.
  • Follow all Brenntag operating, safety, and customer‑site procedures.
  • Operate material‑handling equipment (pallet jacks; forklift where required) and dock equipment.
  • Maintain assigned equipment, ELDs, cameras, and safety systems, ensuring cleanliness and proper function.
  • Communicate with supervisor/dispatcher regarding route and delivery instructions.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or military equivalent.
  • Class A CDL with Tanker, Bulk, and/or Hazmat endorsements (as required).
  • Current DOT medical card; ability to drive a manual transmission.
  • TWIC card (or proof of application), if required.
  • Ability to meet all Driver Qualification (DQ) standards.
  • Preferred: 1+ year liquid bulk hauling or 3+ years commercial driving experience; accredited driving school certification.
  • Comfortable with warehouse duties and using technology (smartphones, tablets, Samsara).
  • Strong customer service and organizational skills.
  • Willing to work overtime/weekends as needed.
  • Must live within 60 miles; must pass drug screen, background check, and E‑Verify.
  • No supervisory responsibilities.

Physical Requirements

  • Pass pre‑employment DOT fit‑for‑duty exam.
  • Ability to sit for long periods and safely enter/exit equipment.
  • Lift up to 75 lbs.; load/unload hazardous materials.
  • Wear required PPE, including respirators if applicable.
