Field Service Technician


Coordinates all activities and instruction of on-site contractor personnel in the proper assembly and/or installation of biological wastewater and/or water treatment equipment. Provide technical troubleshooting support and technical solutions to on-site customers.  Assist in the training activities to support the Field Service Supervisor and Sr. Field Service Technicians.  Maintain written reports of the site evaluations and activities.   Employee may perform other related duties as required to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Travels to construction sites and is Brentwood’s technical representative for equipment installation and/or assembly.
  • Establishes training procedures for contractor personnel on proper assembly and installation procedures for Brentwood supplied equipment.
  • Inspects construction, installation, and assembly work in progress to ensure compliance with Brentwood’s accepted procedures and that equipment is installed in accordance with engineering drawings and instructions.
  • Check on the quality of material supplied by Brentwood and evaluate its compliance with engineering requirements.
  • Works in conjunction with contractor, consulting engineer, and customer to insure proper equipment operation and installation.
  • Responsible to test and certify equipment and provide written certifications to the customer if required.
  • Provide trouble shooting of basic mechanical and electrical issues in the field with minimal support by others. Makes appropriate recommendations for problem resolution.
  • Maintains required documentation and pictures of site visits.  Generates required internal and external reports with clear and concise explanations.
  • Assist to develop, continuously improve, and implement the Field Service Inspection Forms by interpreting blueprints, vendor documentation, and knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical machinery.
  • Develop, continuously improve, and implement the Installation Supervision Training Program by interpreting blueprints, vendor documentation, and knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical machinery.
  • Assist in the training activities to support the Field Service Supervisor and Sr. Field Service Technicians. 
  • Assist in the training and product familiarization of others.
  • Continuously develops and improves all aspects related to the Field Service requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or one year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. 
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. 
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plans and solid geometry and trigonometry.  
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office Applications
  • Familiarity with Syteline Enterprise Software
