Description:

Albright College’s Gingrich Library is looking for a full-time librarian who is enthusiastic, collaborative, and dedicated to supporting student success. In collaboration with the director, this librarian will manage and enhance the library’s core frontline services. Responsibilities include overseeing interlibrary loan operations; supervising library student assistants; managing the library’s chat-with-a-librarian service; participating in the library’s research and instruction program; and coordinating outreach and social media initiatives that strengthen student connections to library resources and the campus community. This librarian will embrace collaborative relationships with library colleagues and faculty and will create innovative programs for campus engagement. 

Essential Job Functions: 

  • Hires, trains, and oversees library student workers 
  • Coordinates and participates in the library instruction and First-Year Seminar (FYS) program in collaboration with faculty 
  • Participates in the statewide chat-monitoring service
  • Prepares incoming and outgoing material for interlibrary loan 
  • Leads library programs for campus engagement, including events, displays, and social media and website efforts
  • Creates and maintains library resource guides for faculty and student use 
  • Manages library’s collection through acquisitions and weeding 
  • Assists in other job-related areas and special projects 
  • Participates in local or regional associations and actively participates in professional development through conferences and workshops
  • Represents the library in campus meetings and community activities 
  • Participates in occasional weekend or evening events relevant to Academic Affairs and Admissions

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related field 
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with strong interpersonal and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution
  • Demonstrated experience working in a library setting 
  • Demonstrated experience with research and instruction services
  • Supervisory experience 
  • Experience with handling social media for an organization 
  • Experience providing public services to individuals from diverse backgrounds

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a changing environment
  • Demonstrated initiative and collaboration skills
  • Knowledge of computer and database systems
