The Mammography Technologist:
- Administers ionizing radiation when performing screening and/or diagnostic mammograms according to established protocols.
- Demonstrates an understanding of breast anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology as they relate to the procedure.
- Maintains a high degree of accuracy in breast positioning, exposure techniques, and subsequent evaluation of imaging parameters to optimize patient imaging and care while adhering to radiation protection and safety standards.
- Integrates technical skills, patient interaction, and care to obtain viable diagnostic information as ordered by the physician.
- Utilizes independent professional judgment and critical thinking to obtain the resultant diagnostic information when possible and seeks direction from a MQSA qualified interpreting physician or lawful institutional policies (or standards of care) to continue or discontinue the exam. They are sensitive to the physical, cultural, and emotional needs of the patient through good communication, patient assessment, patient monitoring, and patient care skills in a non-judgmental and non-discriminatory manner.
- Participates in quality improvement processes and continually assesses their professional performance.
- Comprehends the complexities of appropriate state and federal regulations and have knowledge of the quality control and quality assurance requirements for mammography.

- Mammo with tomosynthesis experience preferred
- DEXA experience a plus
