Description

Job Summary

Responsible for supervising the daily activities of the production staff to ensure that the production schedule is met in a timely, accurate manner. 


Essential Functions

  • Complete the daily production goal while meeting quality standards. Perform QC checks throughout the shift. Continuously monitor each cell’s performance metrics and make necessary adjustments that improve the cell’s output to achieve the daily goal.
  • Maintain open communication with Production Manager on completion status of daily work orders. Promptly identify and communicate any delays, equipment failures, necessary adjustments, or other factors that may impact the completion of the production schedule to the Production Manager.
  • Supervise staff through use of good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Coordinate and assign employee responsibilities and machine assignments daily, including temporary employees when applicable.
  • Lead pre-shift team meeting, communicating updates on EHS, production goals and activity.
  • Partner with Assistant Quality Supervisors to evaluate temporary employees’ work performance and determine hiring eligibility.
  • Operate and train staff on necessary equipment and machines. Ensure an adequate number of Production Support Specialists are trained to cover each position.
  • Identify process improvements and collaborate with other departments to implement changes that align with the company’s continuous improvement initiatives and goals. 
  • Monitor and maintain 3-S standards throughout the department and facility. Ensure the department is clean and organized at the end of the shift.
  • Manage and support production operations by utilizing technology such as Ops Manager, RiteSCAN, and Syspro.
  • Communicate requests with maintenance, distribution, receiving, batchmaking and pressroom to meet production goals. 

Additional Responsibilities

  • Follow OSHA and company safety requirements and ensure staff follows them as well.
  • Troubleshoot and repair machines and equipment as necessary.
  • Verify and approve time cards and time off requests in Paylocity, track absences and latenesses in accordance with company policy, and coordinate coverage when necessary.
  • Properly document accidents and work-related injuries by completing an Accident Report Form and submitting it to Human Resources
  • Ability to back-up Distribution Supervisor and Production Supervisor on any shift.
  • Lock all doors and turn-off equipment, water lines, tanks and lights at end of the day.
  • Serve as Emergency Responder
  • Accomplish all tasks as appropriately assigned or requested

Education and Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Three (3) years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment preferred 
  • Bi-Lingual preferred

Physical Demands  

  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 40-60 lbs. several times per day
  • Ability to stand for extended periods; up to 7½ hours per day, plus overtime
  • Ability to bend repeatedly
