Position Overview
CARIAN is seeking a Project Controls Scheduler – Electric Distribution (Primavera P6) to support major electric utility distribution capital programs. This role will be responsible for developing, maintaining, analyzing, and reporting on detailed project schedules in Oracle Primavera P6.
The ideal candidate has strong project controls and scheduling experience, advanced analytical skills, and the ability to work closely with project managers, engineers, construction teams, contractors, and client stakeholders. This role requires strong attention to detail, schedule discipline, and the ability to support multiple active distribution projects in a fast-paced utility program environment.
This role may be based in Morristown, NJ; Akron, OH; or Reading, PA, with client-site presence and travel as required by project needs.
Key Responsibilities
· Develop, maintain, and update detailed project schedules in Oracle Primavera P6.
· Support electric utility distribution capital projects across planning, engineering, procurement, construction, and closeout.
· Develop and maintain schedule activities, logic, milestones, durations, dependencies, resources, and progress updates.
· Support multiple project managers concurrently across active distribution projects and programs.
· Coordinate schedule updates with project managers, engineers, construction teams, contractors, and client stakeholders.
· Perform schedule quality checks to confirm accuracy, logic integrity, sequencing, and alignment with project requirements.
· Analyze schedule performance, critical path, milestones, constraints, and variances and support development of corrective actions or recovery plans.
· Track project progress and identify potential schedule risks, delays, dependencies, and execution constraints.
· Support project controls reporting, including schedule status, milestone tracking, variance analysis, look-ahead reporting, and management dashboards.
· Integrate and analyze schedule data using Microsoft Excel and other reporting tools.
· Support alignment of schedule information with project cost, forecast, and other project controls data.
· Participate in project meetings and provide schedule updates, analysis, and recommendations as needed.
· Maintain organized schedule files, logs, reports, and supporting project documentation.
· Support project closeout activities, including final schedule updates and documentation turnover.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, Project Management, or a related field required.
4+ years of experience in project controls, scheduling, construction management, or capital project delivery.
Hands-on experience with Oracle Primavera P6 required.
Strong understanding of schedule development, activity sequencing, logic ties, critical path analysis, progress measurement, schedule updates, and variance reporting.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, data analysis, and reporting.
Ability to analyze schedule data and communicate findings clearly to project teams and stakeholders.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work collaboratively with project managers, engineers, construction teams, contractors, project controls personnel, and client representatives.
Valid driver’s license required.
Ability to work at client and project locations as required.
Preferred Experience
Experience supporting electric utility distribution projects or capital programs.
Experience with distribution feeders, substations, system improvements, reliability, capacity, asset replacement, or other electric distribution infrastructure.
Experience supporting projects through engineering, procurement, construction, and closeout.
Experience with cost tracking, forecasting, or integrated project controls reporting.
Utility client or consulting experience.
