Job Information:
As an Account Executive for Slater Controls, you will be the face of our company in the El Paso, TX and Las Cruces, NM territory. Your primary goal will be to sell and demonstrate Slater Controls’ range of valves, instrumentation, flow, and analytical devices to customers across refining, chemical, aerospace, power, midstream pipeline, and other industrial end markets. This role requires a proactive approach to covering the territory, visiting customers regularly, and building strong long-term relationships that grow our presence in the region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute a territory sales strategy that ensures regular contact with current and prospective customers across El Paso, Las Cruces, and surrounding areas.
- Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of Slater Controls’ product range, including valves, instrumentation, flow, and analytical devices, effectively communicating features, benefits, and value to customers.
- Identify customer needs across refining, chemical, aerospace, power, midstream pipeline, and general industrial markets, and work closely with them to select and tailor solutions that meet their requirements.
- Keep up-to-date with industry trends, competitor activity, and vendor developments to advise customers and adjust sales strategies accordingly.
- Achieve and exceed sales targets, providing regular reports on sales activities, pipeline status, and account plans to management.
- Secure and place orders taking into consideration delivery dates and inventory levels, coordinating with inside sales and operations to ensure timely fulfillment.
- Conduct on-site customer visits with new and existing customers, managing sales volume with an existing base while prospecting to expand the territory.
- Provide exceptional after-sales support, ensuring customer satisfaction and fostering long-term relationships that grow Slater Controls’ presence in the region.
- Partner with customers, vendors, Credit, and A/R to quickly resolve customer service issues.
- Travel extensively throughout the assigned territory, maintaining a valid driver’s license and a professional presence with customers and vendors.
Qualifications:
Required:
- 3–5 years of proven outside sales experience, preferably in industrial distribution, valves, instrumentation, or flow control.
- Strong understanding of valves, instrumentation, flow meters, or analytical devices, or a demonstrated ability to learn technical product lines quickly.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, with consultative or solution selling experience.
- Ability to self-manage, organize, and prioritize tasks effectively in a field-based role, with willingness to travel extensively across the assigned territory and a valid driver’s license.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field is preferred but not required; equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Preferred:
- Bilingual English/Spanish proficiency, given the border-region customer base.
- Knowledge of Slater Controls’ product line and core customers, or prior experience selling into refining, chemical, aerospace, power, or midstream pipeline end markets in the El Paso / Las Cruces region.

Work Environment
This role operates in a professional office environment with flexibility for hybrid work. Standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and printers are used. Occasional visits to warehouses or operational sites may be required.
