Rate of Pay: Level I: $24.07 – $27.80 | Level II: $30.91 – $36.69

SUMMARY

Level I: The Socialization & Engagement Coordinator I supports family engagement, socialization, and community partnership activities across NCCDI programs. This is an entry-level position that operates under direct supervision. The Coordinator I follows established procedures and protocols, receives regular guidance from their supervisor, and seeks support when navigating complex family situations or program decisions.

Level II: The Socialization & Engagement Coordinator II supports family engagement, socialization, and community partnership activities across NCCDI programs. This position operates with a high degree of independence and requires minimal day-to-day supervision. The Coordinator II demonstrates initiative in planning and implementing engagement activities, exercises sound judgment, and serves as a resource for staff and community partners.

The level at which this position is staffed is determined by program need, budget, and the qualifications of the incumbent. Movement between levels is an administrative reclassification and does not require creation of a new position.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Maintain and reinforce confidentiality in all program procedures among staff, volunteers, parents, children, and community.
  • Provide home visits as needed and/orrequired.
  • Other duties may be assigned at the discretion of the supervisor.
  • Keep all scheduled appointments, attend mandated training, and arrive on time.
  • Maintain professional boundaries.
  • Responsible for reviewing and following up on information given via various methods.
  • Work cooperatively as a team member.

Family Engagement & Socialization

  • Level I:Assistsin planning, organizing, andfacilitatingmonthly FamilyConnectionsand socialization events for children and families; supports eventlogisticsincluding locations, food, materials, interpreters, and child supervision under supervisor direction.
  • Level II:Independently plans, organizes, andfacilitatesmonthly Family Connections gatherings and socialization events; takes a lead role in agenda development and event evaluation; manages alllogisticswith minimal supervision.
  • Level I:Maintainscalendars for family events and workshops with supervisor guidance; ensures Site Supervisors have needed information in advance.
  • Level II:Maintainsand manages calendars for family events and workshops;anticipatesand resolves scheduling conflicts independently and ensures Site Supervisors are informed well in advance.
  • Level I:Gathers input from families and shares feedback withsupervisorto help improve events and offerings.
  • Level II:Gathers input from families and leads the feedback review process; uses data to drive improvements to events and offerings.
  • Level I:Assists with Parent Committee and PolicyCouncilengagement activities as directed.
  • Level II:Supports Parent Committee and Policy Council engagement activities; provides training and orientation to parents on roles and responsibilities as needed.
  • Both levels:Promote a welcoming, inclusive environmentatall family activities.

Newsletter & Communications

  • Level I:Assistsin developing, writing, and distributing a monthly agency-wide family newsletter and family activity communications; all content is reviewed and approved by supervisor prior to distribution.
  • Level II:Independently develops, writes, and distributesa monthlyagency-wide family newsletter and family activity communications; ensures content is professional,accurate, and aligned with agency standards.

Social Media

  • Level I:Assistswith creating and posting content on NCCDI's social media accounts; all content is reviewed and approved by supervisor prior to posting; tracks basic engagement and shares summaries as directed.
  • Level II:Independently creates, posts, and monitors content on NCCDI's social media accounts; works with leadership to ensure postings are professional,accurate, and alignedwith agency policy; provides regular engagement summaries and recommendations to supervisor.

Parent Workshops & Facilitation

  • Level I:Assistswith facilitating parent workshops (Triple P, budgeting,schoolreadiness, etc.) under the guidance of a certified facilitator or supervisor; working toward Triple P Group Facilitator certification (training provided within first year).
  • Level II:Independentlyfacilitatesparent workshops; serves as a certified Triple P Group, Baby, and/or Seminar facilitator; supports and mentors others in facilitation as needed.
  • Level I:Working toward Child Passenger Safety (Car Seat) Technician certification within first year of employment (training provided);assistswith family support as directed.
  • Level II:Maintainscurrent Child Passenger Safety (Car Seat) Technician certification; provides support to families.

Parent Curriculum

  • Level I:Learns and applies the Parent Curriculum at Family Connections and agency-wide Family Engagement events under supervisor guidance;assistsin monitoring Family Goals and Parent Interest Surveys.
  • Level II:Maintains, monitors, and evaluates the Parent Curriculum; recommends updates as needed; trains other staff on curriculum use; uses Family Goals and Parent Interest Survey data to inform engagement planning.

Outreach & Family Support

  • Level I:Assistsstaff with outreach to families who are less engaged or harder to reach as directed; supports fatherhood/male engagement activities under supervisor guidance.
  • Level II:Leads outreach efforts to families who are less engaged or harder to reach; coaches other staff on effective outreach strategies; provides lead support for fatherhood/male engagement program activities.

Community Partnerships & Resources

  • Level I:Assistsin building relationships with community partners; serves as a point of contact for incoming community resource information; reviews, organizes, and distributes community event flyers and resources toappropriate staffand families under supervisor direction; helpsmaintainthe community resource list.
  • Level II:Builds andmaintainscommunity partner relationships; expands the community resource network; independently manages distribution of resources and ensures the community resource list is current and accessible for staff.
  • Level I:RepresentsNCCDI at selected community events, resource fairs, and collaborative meetings when assigned.
  • Level II:RepresentsNCCDI at community events, resource fairs, and collaborative meetings; takes initiative inidentifyingand pursuing new partnership opportunities.

Data & Reporting

  • Level I:Tracks attendance and participation in socializations and family engagement activities;assistswith PIR data entry and record keeping under supervisor direction;maintainsdocumentation of activities to meet program and grant requirements.
  • Level II:Analyzes attendance and participation trends and shares findings with supervisor; leads completion of PIR data related to family engagement; reviews records for completeness and accuracy prior to submission;identifiesgaps and works with supervisor to address.

Program Collaboration

  • Level I:Participatesinpartnershipswith Education, Family Services, and Health teams to support alignment of engagement activities with programobjectivesas directed.
  • Level II:Actively partners with Education, Family Services, and Health teams to align engagement activities with programobjectives; contributes to cross-team planning discussions and provides input on the family engagement plan in alignment with the Community Assessment and Annual Program Review.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Level I:High school diploma or GEDrequired; AA or higher in Human Services, Social Work, Early Childhood Education, or related field preferred.Minimum 1 year of experience providing social, community, or educational services to families, preferably in a Head Start or similar program.
  • Level II:AA degreerequired; BA or higher in Human Services, Social Work, Early Childhood Education, or related field preferred.Minimum 2 years of experience providing social, community, or educational services to families in a Head Start or similar program.
  • Level I:Basic computer skills sufficient to send and receive email, create flyers, andmaintainrecords;good communicationand organizational skills.
  • Level II:Proficient computer skills including record management, report generation, and social media platforms;strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be flexible, able to work with staff and families in a variety of settings andtime frames.
  • Ability to work on a flexible schedule that includes evenings or weekends.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Language Skills

Ability to read documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to compose routine reports and correspondence on the computer. Ability to speak effectively before groups of young children, parents, staff and community groups.

Certificates, Licenses and Registrations

  • Valid California Driver’s License and clear driving record.
  • Currently certified in First Aid and CPR.
  • A current TB test and a statement of good health from a physicianisrequiredas a condition of employment.
  • Ability to successfully complete criminal background clearance.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; to talk, see or hear; to reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel and crouch. The employee is frequently required to sit; climb or balance; crawl.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.  The employee occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 75 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works in outside weather conditions.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.  Exposure to dust and fumes is minimal or non-existent.
