Do you want to redefine what is possible in Advanced Processing/Extractive Metallurgy of High Purity Quartz?   Ready to take charge of innovation at the heart of our High Purity Quartz operations?  This is more than a job—it's a chance to shape the future of high-tech materials with your expertise and vision.

As a part of the Technology & Innovation (T&I) Team, Sibelco’s strategic Research and Development Division, the Manager Advanced Processing (Extractive Metallurgy) role will empower you to lead a team of highly skilled professionals, including Scientists, Chemists, Chemical Engineers, and Laboratory Technicians. You will oversee and drive research projects across various stages of technological maturity, focusing on process innovation and efficiency enhancements.

Your Impact in This Role

As a Manager-Advanced Processing (Extractive Metallurgy), your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Manage the day-to-day resources, equipment, and manpower economically to achieve the best practical throughput of test work and ensure valid, accurate results are produced in line with the Sibelco laboratory handbook.
  • Manage all Leaching and Chlorination projects through all the stages of development and ensure all projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Motivate and evaluate the team members to enhance team collaboration and support their individual development and growth.
  • Drive innovation and improvements in advanced processing techniques and technologies.
  • Develop, test, and optimize advanced processing methods to enhance efficiency, yield, and product quality.
  • Make informed decisions on process design, equipment selection, and technology implementation based on thorough technical and economic analyses.

What You Bring to the Table

  • Master’s degree in chemical engineering, or materials science, or chemistry, physics or relavant professional experience. PhD is a plus.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in managing teams
  • Experience leading projects, and laboratory operations within either the mining, minerals, or chemicals industry
  • Strong problem solver who demonstrated leadership and accountability
  • Demonstated experience driving team performance and engagement
  • Change enabler and sound communicator across diverse teams
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact effectively and work productively & cooperatively
