Status: Per Diem – Non-Exempt

Reports to: HIM Manager

Purpose/Distinguishing Characteristics

The purpose of this position is to apply the appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes to individual protected health information for data retrieval, analysis, and claims processing. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of clinical coding, validating the information in the databases for outcomes management and specialty registries, and performing clinical research across the entire integrated healthcare system.

Minimum Qualifications   

•    High school diploma or equivalent

•    Minimum of successful completion of a coding certificate program approved by AAPC or AHIMA

•    RHIT, CCS, CCS-P, CPC, CPC-H certification status preferred

•    An equivalent combination of education and experience relating to the above tasks, knowledge, skills and abilities will be considered
