Compensation: Salary $105,000-$170,000; Commensurate to Skills, Education, & Experience
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 5pm

Position Description:
Maas Energy Works is seeking a new Financial Controller to oversee our company financial and accounting operations. Â The Financial Controller will be responsible for ensuring compliance with GAAP regulations, analyzing financial data, monitoring expenditures, forecasting revenue, coordinating auditing processes, and ensuring accuracy of financial reporting. As a fast-growing company in a developing niche industry, the ideal applicant should possess strong problem-solving skills, be highly organized, self-motivated, and have a background and education in accounting.

Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain accounting control procedures, policies, and systems.
- Train and manage the accounting team.
- Ensure accurate financial reporting and timely closing procedures for the parent company and all subsidiary companies.
- Ensure accurate and timely filing of annual property tax statements.
- Work with outside accountants to ensure the annual audit for parent company and all subsidiaries is completed in a timely manner.
- Analyze historical operating expenses and project construction costs to propose budget recommendations and cost saving strategies for the parent company and subsidiaries.
- Maintain audit-ready financial records in accordance with GAAP and company policy, supporting regulatory and compliance audits including those related to renewable energy incentives, grants, and project financing.
- Coordinate internal and external audit processes, serving as the primary point of contact for auditors, ensuring timely delivery of documentation, and tracking corrective actions to resolution.

Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting required
- 5+ years of management experience in accounting required
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel
- Self-motivated
- High attention to detail
- Strong willingness to learn

This job mainly operates in a professional office environment. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

This is largely a sedentary role, however some travel is required. This would require the ability to enter, travel in, and exit vehicles and airplanes.
Exempt Duties Statement: This position qualifies as exempt under CA Labor Code §515 / IWC Wage Order 4 — Executive exemption. The role is primarily engaged (>50% of work time) in management of the Company or a recognized department/subdivision, customarily and regularly directs the work of two or more full-time employees, and has authority (or makes recommendations given particular weight) to hire, fire, promote, or discipline.
