This position functions as a first-line supervisor, providing direction to a variety of subordinate staff. The Custodial Campus Lead works under general supervision and uses independent judgment to apply the guidelines to specific situations. Responsibilities include: making rounds to check for shift coverage of designated work areas, assign needed coverage, give special cleaning instructions and/or assignments, and ascertain compliance with directives. Position also trains new staff in job skills, proper cleaning methods, and use of equipment, safety practices, and work regulations. 


Hours: 40 hours per week

Compensation: $21.00-$24.00 per hour


Job Requirements

  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of building layouts, exits/entrances, outlets, breaker locations, water shutoffs, and stored equipment.
  • Train and inspect workers in custodial methods and procedures and proper operation of equipment.
  • Meet with staff assigned to the Campus Manager for periodic one on one meetings.
  • Resolve work related employee conflicts, seeking the Custodial Directors guidance and approval in write-ups and other documentation.
  • Assist the Custodial Director in creating weekly schedules with a thorough understanding of future room requests by adequately and efficiently assessing the requirments for room set ups.
  • Maintain a knowledge base of cleaning chemicals, procedures, fire code, shift lists, and room setups, and the use of various custodial equipment.
  • Communicate safety and fire codes to staff and other departments. 
  • Communicate to specific lead workers the current status of room requests, maintaining a working knowledge of how rooms are used and how the shift operates.
  • Maintain adequate communication with the Calendar Department.
  • Attend and complete safety trainings related to occupational work conditions and safety hazards as required by the Facilities Department.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing assigned tasks as requested.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Believes and adheres to the beliefs and vision of Bethel Church
  • Current, valid driver’s license with a clean record
  • Ability to train, manage, and supervise a team with a minimum of five members
  • Working knowledge in the use of custodial materials and chemicals and the operation of custodial equipment
  • Ability to effectively communicate to custodial staff, management, other department heads, and guests
  • Ability to de-escalate emotions and bring solutions
  • Knowledge of safe lifting and moving techniques within 3 months of hire
  • Ability to learn and use institutional software systems with Mac OS within 3 months of hire
  • This position does not qualify for sponsorship of work authorization or an employment visa, so candidates must be legally qualified to work in the U.S. to be considered for this position.
