Job DetailsLevel: ExperiencedJob Location: Redding - Redding, CA 96002Position Type: Full TimeSalary Range: $22.00 - $25.00 HourlyJob Shift: DayJob Category: Health Care  Job Title: Maintenance Worker Department: Maintenance FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Reports To: Director of Facilities Schedule: 7:00am to 4:00pm Location: Redding and Round Mountain   POSITION SUMMARY:  Working independently at all Hill Country Community Clinic sites in Redding and Round Mountain, CA, This position is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of multiple clinic sites. General knowledge in plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting and custodial trades is necessary.   ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  Other duties may be assigned which may become essential to the position.  Performs basic rough and finished carpentry repair of structures such as walls, doors, fences, window frames, office furniture, roofs, and shelves. Performs basic electrical repair work for switches, outlets, plugs, cables, appliances, and lighting systems; reports unsafe electrical conditions. Identifies and performs basic repairs of plumbing leaks or breaks; opens clogged lines and drains; replaces seals and other minor parts; maintains drinking fountains; repairs, replaces and maintains hot water heaters and other appliances. Applies and prepares various surfaces for paint, enamel, lacquer, varnish, or stain; removes or paints over graffiti; repairs wall coverings. Maintains grounds in clean, safe, and orderly manner including trimming, weeding, minor pest management; replaces plants as needed; cleans debris from grounds, pathways, and parking lots; maintains grounds maintenance equipment; prunes trees and shrubs. Repairs various items, systems and/or components (e.g. roofs, furniture fences, concrete walkways, air conditioning equipment, door locks, pipes, valves, fittings, clogged drains, etc.). Performs small engine and other mechanical repairs. Performs preventative maintenance checks and service and troubleshoots issues observed. Responds to emergency situations (e.g. broken/clogged pipes/drains, faucets, gutters, sprinkler heads, fixtures, spill clean-up, etc.). Transports various items (e.g. tools, equipment, supplies, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability of materials required at job site. Change filters and/or belts on various ventilation units. Maintains tools and/or equipment (e.g. hand and power tools, gas powered equipment, heating and ventilation equipment, etc.) to ensure the availability of equipment in safe operating condition. Reports mechanical malfunctions to appropriate party for action. Moves and assists in moving furniture and equipment at various facilities/sites. Inspects facilities, systems and their components for the purpose of identifying necessary repairs. Identifies projects requiring the services of a higher skilled crafts person. Assists in obtaining quotes and arranging for services of outside vendors as directed. Completes service requests and updates online work logs for specific site requirements. Perform vehicle fleet maintenance and cleaning. Records and maintains inventory of essential preventative maintenance and janitorial items. Activates and deactivates building alarms. Removes and responds to safety hazards at clinic sites. Maintains clean, safe, and orderly work sites. Perform assigned responsibilities, duties, and tasks according to established practices, procedures, techniques, and standards in a safe manner and with minimal supervision. Must have strong time management skills and the ability to work independently.     QUALIFICATIONS: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.   Education/Experience: High School diploma or G.E.D. and any combination of education, training, and experience which demonstrates ability to perform the duties and responsibilities as described including related work experience in one or more of the building trades.  Experience working in a clinical environment is preferred.   Certificates and Licenses: Current CA drivers’ license and insurance required.    Language Ability: Must have standard level of language skills.  Ability to understand written procedures, write routine documents, and speak clearly; and understand complex, multi-step written and oral instructions. Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work assignments.   Math Ability: Must have basic math skills with the ability to perform calculations using fractions, percents, and/or ratios.   Reasoning Ability: Must have good reasoning skills.  Ability to define problems, collect information, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions in written or diagram form.   Computer Skills:   To perform this job successfully, an individual should have working knowledge of Windows operating systems; Microsoft Office Suite - Word, Excel, Outlook; Internet browsers and maintain computerized work logs and service requests.   Equipment Skills: Proficient with hand and power tools, gas engine equipment, groundskeeping tools, custodial equipment, computers, printers, copiers.   WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
