Job Description

The Director of Trade Compliance leads and oversees a comprehensive global trade compliance program, ensuring full adherence to import and export regulations while supporting international business operations across a worldwide customer base. This strategic leadership role serves as the organization’s subject matter expert for export controls, sanctions regulations, customs compliance, and international trade risk management, partnering closely with executive leadership, internal stakeholders, customs brokers, freight forwarders, and third-party logistics providers to maintain compliant, efficient, and optimized trade operations.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and continuously improve the organization’s global trade compliance program.
• Establish policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance with U.S., UK/EU, and international trade regulations.
• Serve as the primary expert on EAR, OFAC sanctions programs, BIS regulations, and export control requirements.
• Provide strategic guidance and recommendations to executive leadership regarding trade compliance risks and mitigation strategies.
• Oversee classification management processes, including ECCN, HS, HTS, and Schedule B classifications.
• Ensure accurate import documentation, appropriate customs valuation methodologies, and correct country-of-origin determinations.
• Manage export licensing determinations, restricted party screening, and export documentation requirements.
• Conduct end-use and end-user reviews and evaluate diversion and transshipment risks.
• Lead internal audits, compliance reviews, investigations, and corrective action initiatives to address identified issues.
• Monitor regulatory developments and drive timely implementation of changes to maintain ongoing compliance.
• Develop duty minimization strategies and oversee duty relief programs, including duty drawback opportunities.
• Collaborate with operations, finance, and supply chain teams to optimize trade compliance processes and support business objectives.
• Deliver trade compliance training and promote a culture of accountability and regulatory awareness throughout the organization.
• Manage relationships with customs brokers, freight forwarders, logistics providers, and external compliance partners.
• Support an expanding international business and digital marketplace by aligning trade compliance practices with growth and transformation initiatives.
• Influence compliance strategy at the executive level and lead a high-impact global compliance program.
• Drive meaningful improvements in trade operations, regulatory compliance, and duty optimization across multiple regions.

Essential Skills

• Expert knowledge of EAR (Export Administration Regulations), OFAC sanctions, and BIS requirements.
• Strong expertise in import and export regulatory compliance and customs operations.
• Proven experience developing and leading enterprise-wide global trade compliance programs.
• Demonstrated proficiency with ECCN, HS, HTS, and Schedule B tariff classifications.
• Experience conducting export screenings, end-user reviews, and diversion risk assessments.
• Knowledge of duty drawback, duty relief programs, and tariff optimization strategies.
• Experience managing customs brokers, freight forwarders, and third-party logistics providers.
• Ability to advise executive leadership on compliance risk, regulatory strategy, and mitigation approaches.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong data analysis capabilities.
• Strong analytical, investigative, and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent executive-level communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Demonstrated leadership experience in a global business environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in the aviation, aerospace, or aircraft parts industry, particularly supporting international supply chain operations.
• ITAR compliance expertise and familiarity with defense-related export controls.
• Experience with UK/EU customs and import regulations.
• Trade compliance certifications such as LCB, CUSECO, CES, or similar credentials.
• Experience supporting global eCommerce or digital marketplace operations.
• Knowledge of international logistics and INCOTERMs.
• Background in internal compliance auditing and regulatory change management.
• Experience designing and delivering compliance training and development programs.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred; advanced trade compliance certifications are highly desirable.

Work Environment

This is an on-site role based in Doral, working Monday through Friday in a professional office environment. The position operates within a global aviation aftermarket and aircraft inventory support setting, engaging with cross-functional leadership teams across North America, Europe, and Asia. The work involves regular collaboration with operations, finance, supply chain, and external logistics partners, and extensive use of Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools to support trade compliance decision-making. The environment is fast-paced and growth-oriented, with a focus on digital transformation, continuous improvement in trade operations, and maintaining a strong culture of regulatory compliance and accountability. Professional business attire is expected to align with the executive-level interactions and customer-facing nature of the organization.

This is a Permanent position based out of Doral, FL.

The pay range for this position is $140000.00 - $150000.00/yr.
