About the Role:

We are seeking a Respiratory Therapist to join our team at Independent Living Systems (ILS). ILS, along with its affiliated health plans known as Florida Community Care and Florida Complete Care, is committed to promoting a higher quality of life and maximizing independence for all vulnerable populations.

The Respiratory Therapist plays an essential role in delivering specialized respiratory care to members within their homes, ensuring comfort and improved quality of life. This position involves reviewing physician orders and supporting documentation, educating members and caregivers on respiratory equipment and therapies effectively. The Respiratory Therapist will collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to monitor member progress and adjust treatments as necessary. Additionally, the role requires setting up and maintaining respiratory equipment, ensuring safety and compliance with healthcare standards. Ultimately, this position aims to provide compassionate, high-quality respiratory care that supports member independence and well-being in a DME company.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in respiratory therapy.
  • Valid and current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential
  • Current Florida Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) unrestricted license
  • Minimum of one year of clinical experience in respiratory therapy, preferably including home health or out member care.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Strong knowledge of respiratory care equipment and treatment protocols including oxygen therapy, PAP therapy, ventilation equipment, and home respiratory services.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Respiratory Therapy.
  • Experience working within Home Medical Equipment (HME), Durable Medical Equipment (DME), or community-based healthcare environment.
  • Experience with Brightree or other HME/DME management software.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and documentation standards including payer compliance requirements
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate commitment to Our Mission and consistently models the ILS Experience Standards of Excellence.
  • Review and complete required documentation in accordance with regulatory, physician orders and support with payer requirements and organizational policies.
  • Set up, operate, and maintain respiratory therapy equipment such as ventilators, oxygen delivery systems, and nebulizers.
  • Monitor equipment usage and compliance documentation.
  • Educate and their families on respiratory care techniques, equipment usage, and safety protocols to promote effective self-management.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams and coordinate setup, delivery, education, and ongoing support of respiratory equipment. Troubleshoot equipment-related concerns and resolution.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
