  • Preferred qualifications include experience with robotic systems, soldering certifications, and familiarity with communication protocols.
At Meta, we're building the future of human connection and the technology that enables it. This means continuously inventing and developing technologies for the next generation of experiences. To continue our efforts on the path to AGI, and as we move closer to a future with intelligent robots and advanced AI models, we're hiring talent across a broad range of disciplines from robotics hardware to system software, machine perception, and artificial intelligence. These crucial projects and initiatives taken on by this team have never been done before, so you have a rare opportunity to help us create new ways people connect around the world. Meta Robotics Studio is seeking a hands-on Electrical Engineering Technician to be the bench-level bridge between engineering intent and validated hardware. Working closely with our System Integration and Test engineers, you will build, wire, and operate the test platforms, fixtures, and benches that keep our robot electrical systems under continuous validation. This is a build-and-test role — not a design role: you will spend your time assembling harnesses, soldering and reworking boards, standing up device-under-test setups, running documented test procedures, and capturing clean data that engineers can act on. Candidates should be comfortable working in a high-ambiguity, fast-paced environment where full system requirements are seldom known.

Responsibilities

  • Test Execution: Set up and run functional, power-on, and system-level tests on robotic electrical hardware following documented procedures and acceptance criteria
  • Bench & Fixture Build: Assemble, wire, and maintain test benches, fixtures, and device-under-test (DUT) interfaces that replicate robot subsystems for continuous, 24/7 testing
  • Soldering & Rework: Perform through-hole and SMD soldering, board rework, and component-level repair on PCBAs and prototype hardware
  • Cable & Harness Assembly: Fabricate and terminate cable harnesses and interconnects — crimping, connectorization, and continuity verification against wiring diagrams
  • Integration Support: Install and integrate PCBAs, sensors, actuators, power distribution, and communication buses (EtherCAT, CAN, SPI, UART, Ethernet) into test setups
  • Instrumentation & Data: Operate standard bench instrumentation (oscilloscopes, logic/protocol analyzers, DMMs, LCR meters, power supplies, electronic loads) and data acquisition systems; log, organize, and report test data and anomalies
  • Basic Debug: Assist engineers with first-level troubleshooting and root-cause isolation of electrical and electromechanical issues, escalating complex faults with clear documentation
  • Documentation & SOPs: Create and maintain assembly instructions, test procedures, and maintenance logs to ensure repeatable processes and compliance with safety standards
  • Lab & Safety: Maintain high standards for lab safety, tool organization, consumable stocking, and equipment readiness
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with electrical, firmware, software, and manufacturing engineers to provide feedback on testability, assembly issues, and hardware refinements

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in electrical/electronic hardware test, integration, assembly, or production (robotics, consumer electronics, automotive, or aerospace preferred)
  • Proficiency in soldering and rework (through-hole and SMD) and component-level repair
  • Experience fabricating and terminating cable harnesses and connectors (crimping, connectorization)
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics and wiring diagrams
  • Hands-on experience with standard bench instrumentation (oscilloscope, DMM, LCR, power supply, electronic load) and data acquisition systems
  • Experience executing documented test procedures and capturing/reporting test data
  • Strong technical writing and documentation skills
  • Experience prioritizing competing tasks and adapting to evolving requirements in hardware development or test environments

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct experience with robotic or electromechanical systems (motors, actuators, drive electronics)
  • IPC-A-610 and/or J-STD-001 soldering workmanship certification, and ESD-control certification
  • Basic scripting (e.g., Python) for test automation, data collection, or instrumentation control
  • Experience with power systems — DC/DC conversion, battery management, and power cycling
  • Familiarity with electrical and operational safety controls and procedures
  • Experience building or maintaining Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) benches, flatpacks/mules, or modular test rigs
  • Associate's degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering Technology (EET) or equivalent experience
  • Familiarity with communication bus protocols (EtherCAT, CAN, SPI, I2C, UART, Ethernet) in distributed embedded systems
