Description

We are seeking an innovative, adaptable educator to lead a multi-age cohort of 7th and 8th-grade students. In this role, you will break down traditional subject silos by teaching all core content areas through a fully interdisciplinary, hands-on learning lens. You will design flexible learning pathways tailored to each student's needs. 


Key Responsibilities

  • Interdisciplinary Design: Create and implement thematic, hands-on units that integrate 7th and 8th-grade standards across STEM and Humanities. Personalized Facilitation: Guide students through individual learning pathways, adjusting pace, scaffolding, and extension activities based on real-time data.
  • Proficiency-Based Assessment: Evaluate student work using rubric-driven, competency-based metrics. Provide high-quality feedback that focuses on growth.
  • Data-Informed Instruction: Regularly analyze student progress toward specific standards to form flexible small groups and target specific skills.
  • Mentorship & Culture: Act as an advisor to students, helping them set personal academic goals, track their own data, and develop self-regulation skills.
  • Mindset: A champion for equity who believes all students can achieve high standards when given the right time, support, and personalized pathways.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Education: Degree in Middle School Education subject area, Elementary Education, Special Education, or a related field.
  • Certification: Valid Oregon Teaching License or ability to earn Charter School Teaching License
