The M365 Core Design Studio is a global, multidisciplinary team at Microsoft dedicated to bringing humanity to AI experiences. We design intelligent, human-centered solutions that seamlessly integrate into people’s lives and transform how they find, ask, and do across Microsoft 365.

Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the design of AI-powered features across M365 products and platforms.
  • Translate user needs into clear experience frameworks, user flows, and interaction patterns.
  • Collaborate closely with PM, engineering, and research partners to deliver thoughtful, scalable solutions.
  • Embrace ambiguity and shifting priorities with a proactive, problem-solving mindset.
  • Communicate clearly and consistently across time zones and tools to support async collaboration.
  • Share early design explorations to gather feedback and build alignment.
  • Participate in design critiques and contribute to a culture of craft, innovation, and user advocacy.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, User Experience, Interaction Design, or related field
    • OR equivalent experience 
 
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, User Experience, Interaction Design, or related field AND 1+ year(s) relevant internship/work experience working in product or service design
    • OR Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, User Experience, Interaction Design, or related field AND 2+ years related work experience working in product or service design 
    • OR equivalent experience (e.g., demonstrated experience working in product or service design or using design thinking to solve problems). 
  • A portfolio showcasing end-to-end product thinking and execution, with solid emphasis on interaction design, visual craft, and design systems.
  • Proficiency in Figma and prototyping tools (e.g., Framer, ProtoPie, Principle).
  • Experience designing for AI/LLM-powered experiences is required.
  • Solid storytelling, presentation, and async communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively and influence outcomes in cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with design systems, accessibility, and inclusive design practices.
  • AI Fluency: Applies AI concepts to design smarter, more adaptive user experiences.
  • Adaptability: Thrives in fast-paced, evolving environments.
  • Design Craft: Delivers polished, user-centered solutions with attention to detail.
  • Time Management: Manages multiple priorities and workstreams effectively.
  • Async Communication: Communicates clearly across time zones and tools.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Builds strong relationships with product and engineering partners.

 



Product Design IC2 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $84,200 - $165,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $109,000 - $180,400 per year.
