Kleinfelder / CMWorks is looking to connect with people who understand public works construction and can step into a project and contribute right away, whether your background is in inspection or construction management either as an owner’s representative or contractor. Flexibility is an option as semi-retired professionals that are available on a project by project basis would be valuable.

 

What We’re Looking For

We’re interested in professionals with experience on public works projects such as:

  • Buildings, facilities, and site
  • Aviation and airfield work
  • Roadways and highways
  • Underground utilities (water, sewer, drainage)
  • Bridges and structures
  • Water and wastewater facilities

If you’ve worked in these environments and understand how projects are built, you’ll fit well with our team.

Construction Inspector – What the Work Looks Like

  • Field inspection on active construction projects
  • Daily reports, quantity tracking, and documentation of work performed
  • Reading and interpreting plans, specs, and special provisions
  • Coordinating with contractors, labs, and the project team
  • Tracking materials testing and understanding results
  • Assisting with submittals, RFIs, and basic project documentation
  • Participating in meetings and helping keep communication moving
  • Constructability / Biddability review experience

This role is for someone who can be trusted in the field, stays organized, and communicates clearly with both the contractor and the client.

Typical Background

  • ~10+ years of construction inspection or related experience
  • Strong public works and public agency experience
  • Familiar with materials testing (soils, concrete, asphalt)
  • Able to read plans and understand construction sequencing
  • Certifications such as ACI, ICC, IMSA, ATTSA, NASSCO, IMSA etc. are a plus
  • OSHA 30 or ability to obtain
  • Comfortable using project management software

Construction Manager – What the Work Looks Like

  • Lead project teams and work directly with the client
  • Manage scope, schedule, budget, and overall project delivery
  • Run meetings and coordinate with designers, contractors, and stakeholders
  • Oversee submittals, RFIs, change management, and project controls
  • Support proposals, client relationships, and future work
  • Ability to oversee inspectors and perform inspections
  • Constructability / Biddability review experience

This role is for someone who understands both the field and management side and can keep projects moving while maintaining strong working relationships and partnering approaches.

Typical Background

  • ~10+ years of construction management experience on public works projects
  • Experience delivering projects from preconstruction through closeout
  • Comfortable leading teams and serving as the client’s point of contact
  • Strong understanding of budgets, schedules, and project controls
  • Experience with Primavera P6 or similar scheduling tools
  • Nevada public agency experience is a plus
  • PE, CCM, AIA or PMP is a plus, but not required

Following an offer, candidates will be required to satisfactorily complete employment reference checks, verification of professional licensure and/or educational credentials, a motor vehicle report (MVR), and a comprehensive background check.
