ABOUT THE ROLE

Microlab Services is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Lab Intern to support our Microbiology Lab. This is an excellent opportunity for students or early-career professionals to gain hands-on experience in a professional laboratory setting while contributing to meaningful scientific work.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Slide Preparation: Prepare microscope slides and specimen samples according to laboratory protocols and standards
Microscope Maintenance & Calibration: Assist in the maintenance, calibration, and proper care of microscopes and optical equipment to ensure accuracy and longevity
Laboratory Support: Perform general lab duties including sample organization, equipment sterilization, workspace management, and inventory control
Reporting & Documentation: Support the compilation and organization of laboratory findings, assist with data entry, and maintain accurate records
Quality Assurance: Follow established laboratory procedures and safety protocols to maintain a clean and professional work environment

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Current enrollment in or recent completion of a program related to biology, microbiology, mycology, or a related life sciences field
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
Ability to work independently and follow written instructions
Basic computer skills for documentation and data entry
Willingness to learn and take direction from lab supervisors

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Previous laboratory experience or coursework in microbiology or mycology
Familiarity with microscopy techniques
Experience with laboratory information systems (LIMS)
Knowledge of basic laboratory safety protocols
Strong organizational and time management skills

WORKING CONDITIONS

Lab-based position requiring appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
Standard laboratory conditions with occasional exposure to microscopy and microbial samples
Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks with precision

COMPENSATION

Pay rate of $20.00 per hour
This is an hourly nonexempt position, eligible for overtime pay at one and one-half times your regular rate for all hours worked over 40 in a workweek. Overtime must be approved in advance by your supervisor.
Part time or full time work is available
There are no paid benefits associated with the internship. Should an intern convert to full-time permanent employment, the following benefits will be available: PTO, Paid Holiday, Group Medical Insurance, 401(k) Retirement
