As the Project Environmental Manager, you will lead and oversee the environmental management practices on the Howard A. Hanson Dam Additional Storage Project. What you will be doing

  • Coordinating contractor compliance with federal, state, local, and installation project requirements.
  • Develops and monitors environmental procedures on construction sites.
  • Develop and conduct environmental protection and awareness training to staff at all levels, including 40 CFR requirements. 
  • Ensure compliance with Hazardous Waste Program requirements (including hazardous waste handling, storage, manifesting, and disposal); implement the EPP; ensure environmental permits are obtained, maintained, and closed out; ensure compliance with Stormwater Program requirements; ensure compliance with equipment decontamination and inspection requirements;, ensure compliance with Hazardous Materials (storage, handling, and reporting) requirements Identify, document, and resolves environmental risks during daily site inspections. 
  • Coordinate any remediation of regulated substances (lead, asbestos, PCB transformers)
  • Ensure compliance with water quality standards; ensure compliance with Endangered Species Act requirements; ensure compliance with Migratory Bird Treaty Act and Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act. 
  • Maintain the Environmental Records binder and required documentation, including environmental permits compliance and close-out.
  • Update environmental plans.
  • Documents findings, evaluations, and inspections using company-approved procedures and software. 
  • Advises project management on the proper interpretation and implementation of environmental regulations and specifications. 
  • Documents, analyzes, and reports environmental performance to internal and external clients and regulatory bodies. 
  • Advise project management on the propoer interpretation and implementation of environmental regulations and specifications.
  • Document, analyze, and report environmental performance to itnernal and external clients and regulatory bodies.
  • Advise construction teams on environmental hazards and procedures to minimize adverse effects.
  • Monitor, forcast and communicate environmental costs at the project level.
  • Identify opportunities to implement sustainable practices.

What we are looking for

  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science or a Engineering field required. 
  • 5+ years environmental regulatory and compliance experience in the construction industry required.  
  • Expert knowledge of the local regulations or skill sets related to the specific work on project including, an understanding of the MBTA, ESA, Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act, 40 CFR, Clean Water Act (Washington State-SMMWW, CSWGP, SWPPP, TESC) and work within and discharge to jurisdictional surface waters.
  • Expert knowledge of compliance with environmental regulations and legislation.
  • Highly motivated, with a demonstrated passion for excellence and taking initiative.
  • Expert knowledge of the local regulations or skill sets related to the specific work on project. 
  • Expert knowledge of compliance with environmental regulations and new legislation. 
  • Proven technical writing, documentation, and communication skills.
