The role of Central Region Router is responsible for developing and maintaining efficient transportation routes while supporting daily dispatch operations. This position ensures safe, reliable, and cost-effective transportation services by coordinating with drivers, responding to operational changes, and maintaining efficient routing to support schools, passengers, and company operations.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Develop and maintain safe, efficient, and cost-effective transportation routes.
- Monitor daily operations and make routing adjustments due to traffic, weather, driver absences, or other operational needs.
- Support dispatch operations by communicating route changes and assisting with driver coverage.
- Analyze routing data to improve efficiency, reduce mileage, and maximize resource utilization.
- Maintain accurate route information, driver assignments, and transportation records.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, drivers, management, and school district personnel.
- Ensure all routes comply with company policies, contractual obligations, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
- Troubleshoot routing and scheduling issues while providing timely solutions.
- Assist with planning routes for new contracts, schools, or service changes.
- Provide exceptional customer service while working with internal and external stakeholders.
Education, Experience and Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 2+ years of dispatching or transportation routing experience required.
- Experience in school bus transportation or logistics preferred.
- Strong knowledge of routing efficiency and transportation operations.
- Proficiency with routing and dispatch software, as well as Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm, think critically, and make quick decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks while meeting deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with operations staff.
Starting Pay: $35.00 per hour
