Job Summary:Â
Oversees and directs the day-to-day operation of the Environmental Services Department ensuring a clean, orderly, and safe environment.

Essential Job Qualifications:
Education: Preferred one year of college or specialized post-high school training in such areas as Environmental Management courses where education credits have been received, and/or Certificate(s) of Achievement specific to Housekeeping. Certification from NEHA or Environmental Management Association.Â
Experience: A minimum of 2 to 5 years of experience in healthcare environmental service. Previous supervisory experience preferred.Â

Duties and Responsibilities:Â
- Monitoring the bed board and assists with movement of staff during high discharge activity.Â
- Assists with assigning workers their duties and ensures that quality standards are met by inspecting completed work.
- Investigates, documents, and reports all unusual occurrences/complaints to the Environmental Services Manager and takes corrective action.
- Coordinates conference room set ups and work activities among departments
- Maintains a current inventory of supplies and equipment.
- Assists with guiding, directing and motivating staff.
- Assists with Environment of Care Rounding.
- Assists with Performance Improvement and Infection Control programs.
- Assists with interviewing applicants, orientation training, inservice training, and maintains records of the training programs.
- Ensures equipment is in good repair and tested regularly.
- Assists with schedule, sign-in sheets, payroll and completing performance evaluations
- Monitors linen usage.
- Assists in development and implementation of department policies and procedures and standards of work.
- Makes recommendations t improve services and ensure more efficient operation within facility to improve safety and patient care or to reduce costs.
- Performs cleaning duties in cases of emergency or staff shortages.
- Assists with meeting compliance with JCAHO, federal, state and local regulations.
- Maintains regulatory requirements, including all state, federal and JCAHO regulations.
- Maintains and ensure patient confidentiality at all times .
- Maintains a cohesive rapport with physicians, departments and staff.
- Coach and develop others to improve their knowledge or skills.
- Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner.
- Attends the committee meetings as appropriate.Â
- Provides flexibility of the management team, and provides management coverage during vacation times and unscheduled PTO days.Â
