The Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety (IBHS) is seeking a skilled Electrician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and components to support our research facilities and operations. Your expertise will help ensure safe, efficient, and code-compliant electrical infrastructure that enables our mission of advancing building resilience and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, systems, and equipment in accordance with applicable codes and standards.
  • Perform inspections and testing of electrical systems to diagnose and fix faults or malfunctions.
  • Collaborate with facility management and engineering teams to support research and operational needs.
  • Ensure all electrical work complies with safety regulations, building codes, and organizational policies.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair activities.
  • Troubleshoot electrical problems and recommend cost-effective solutions.
  • Participate in safety audits and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of electrician apprenticeship or trade school required.
  • Valid electrician license or certification as per state/local agencies. Example - Journeymen's
  • Proven experience as an electrician, preferably in commercial or industrial settings.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, wiring, and local electrical codes.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and blueprints.
  • Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to safety and compliance standards.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
