Process Engineer

Location: IKO Mat Tech Inc., Chester, SC   Department: Engineering   Type: Full Time

WHEN YOU JOIN US YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL BE TO;

  • Exceptional attendance including working every day, on time, as scheduled.

  • Monitors and maintains proper batch storage, delivery, weighing, and mixing.
  • Works with QC and raw material carriers to approve unloading of raw materials into silos.
  • Evaluates batch plant control systems data and makes appropriate adjustments to ensure process operates efficiently and remains in control.
  • Monitors and controls glass formation in furnace and forehearth to ensure optimum mixing, melting, and furnace throughput. Monitors and adjusts critical process variables, including but not limited to, natural gas firing, electric boost power, pressure, temperature, flow rates, oxygen, bubblers, glass level, batch line, etc.
  • Inspects furnace and forehearths per required frequency and takes appropriate action when issues are found.
  • Assists in furnace changes, upsets, start-ups, shutdowns, repairs, and rebuilds.
  • Guides and assists maintenance personnel in batch and furnace repairs. Performs minor repairs and process adjustments, as necessary.
  • Maintains exceptional housekeeping and organization in all areas of responsibility including but not limited to batch house, furnace level, furnace sump level, forehearth level, and control room.
  • Other duties as required.

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE;

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.

  • Suitable candidates should possess 3-5 years of practical experience in process engineering within a manufacturing setting, ideally in a coating process, wet formed fiberglass mat process, or a comparable field.

  • Additional backgrounds or proven experiences that may suggest a suitable candidate encompass roles such as quality manager, quality engineer, and substantial technical expertise in similar processes, including paper manufacturing or other coating techniques.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

  • Strong detailed oriented technical writing skills.

  • Lean six sigma skills and experience preferred.

  • Knowledge of SPC (statistical process control).

  • Advanced analytical skills, and creativity in solving problems/troubleshooting.

  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple short and long-term projects, while supporting the daily operations.

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication abilities (including written, verbal, and presentation skills), demonstrating the capacity to collaborate effectively with others in a team setting.

  • Capable of functioning autonomously with limited daily guidance (once provided with general tasks)
