Fleet Manager / Diesel Mechanic – Full-Time | $34.00–$48.00/hr (Hourly, OT-Eligible)

We're seeking a skilled and dependable Fleet Manager / Diesel Mechanic to oversee our repair facility while supporting our fleet and field operations. This role is critical in keeping our equipment running safely and efficiently, minimizing downtime, and ensuring our crews have the reliable equipment they need to succeed.


What You'll Do

  • Manage the repair facility for the internal needs of a local utility contractor
  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy equipment, trucks, and trailers
  • Perform preventative maintenance on diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical components
  • Troubleshoot complex mechanical issues independently
  • Support field service calls and emergency repairs as needed
  • Maintain the shop schedule and prioritize repair needs based on company operations
  • Assist with DOT-related fleet maintenance and compliance
  • Maintain accurate service records and ensure equipment is operating safely
  • Keep the shop and work areas organized, clean, and safe


What We're Looking For

  • Strong mechanical background with experience in heavy equipment and/or diesel repair
  • Ability to diagnose issues across hydraulic, electrical, and engine systems
  • Experience managing shop employees
  • Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision
  • Experience with both equipment and fleet vehicles (preferred)
  • Experience with Microsoft-based software programs
  • Willingness to support field repairs when needed
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record (CDL preferred, but not required)
  • Fabrication and welding experience is preferred, but not required
