What You’ll Do Day-To-Day

  • Ensures personal and workplace compliance with company and regulatory agency policies that protect employee and public health and safety.    
  • Interprets results, prepares reports, and provides technical advice in specialized area.  
  • Provides client input regarding the use of scientific analysis and processes.  
  • Works on special projects, as directed.  
  • Performs work to specification and procedural requirements.  
  • Performs design tasks that include supporting the design of a system, evaluating a proposed design and evaluating the operation of a nuclear facility.

 

Chemistry degree with laboratory experience. Working knowledge of a broad range of general laboratory operations. Strong organizational, leadership, technical and interpersonal communication skills. Proficient in computer operations, Microsoft office suite and troubleshooting preferred but not required. Ability to generate respect and trust from staff, internal customers, external auditors and manage multiple priorities under strict deadlines.

 

Knowledge of a LIMS system (preferable Thermo Fisher SampleManager) is a plus. 

Knowledge of basic wet chemistry and instrumental analysis techniques is preferred.  Knowledge of at least one (1) of the following types of instrumentation is preferred with the ability to identify issues, trouble shoot, and work with others to resolve instrumentation issues: ICP-MS; ICP-OES; and Ion Chromatography Instrumentation.  Previous work in an environmental laboratory is preferred but not required.

  • Minimum of 3 years of related experience.  
  • Advanced knowledge of EPA, NRC, OSHA and other national, state and local regulatory agency requirements.  
  • Good communication skills to comprehend, follow direction and convey detailed technical data.  
  • Ability to develop and maintain good interpersonal relationships; work collaboratively within a team environment.  
  • Good problem identification and problem resolution skills with emphasis on 'root cause' analysis.  
  • Exhibits questioning attitude and practices self-checking.

  • Salary: $92,000 - $124,000, and may also include annual incentives and performance bonuses. The base salary range is a guideline. Individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies and work location.
