SUMMARY

The Banquet Assistant / Cashier serves in a customer-facing role to support the Culinary Team.  In this capacity, the responsibility ranges from setting up for the event to navigating demands (services and transaction management) during the event and closing out after the event.  Success in this role depends on effective communication, dependability, a commitment to deliver exceptional customer service and a passion for creating memorable experiences.   The Cashier is responsible for maintaining outstanding currency management per SPBC standards; processing sales efficiently, effectively and accurately, commanding cash register operations and safeguarding company assets.


PRIMARY DUTIES (list order does not signify level of importance):

  • Setting up for events by putting out tablecloths and place settings, arranging table placement and setting up a buffet
  • Carrying plates of food on trays and serving guests
  • Cleaning, organizing and breaking down items before, during and after an event / service
  • Maintaining high standards of safety and cleanliness
  • Adhering to grooming and appearance standards
  • Ensuring that each customer receives outstanding service by providing a friendly environment, which includes greeting and acknowledging every customer, maintaining outstanding standards, solid product knowledge and all other aspects of customer service. 
  • Maintaining an awareness of menus and available items. 
  • Accurately and efficiently operating registers and accurately maintain all cash and media at the registers. 
  • Communicating customer requests to management. 
  • Assist in maintaining dining area and providing support to buffet runner. 
  • Assisting with dining room set up and break down. 
  • Maintaining orderly appearance of register area. 
  • Completing any other tasks as assigned from time to time by the manager. 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to engage in training and respond favorably to coaching
  • Effective communication with coworkers and customers
  • Strong aptitude for math and problem solving
  • Ability to perform opening and closing duties for register
  • Ability to accurately complete all documentation via effective reading, writing and counting
  • Ability to effectively operate all equipment necessary to perform the job 

Physical Demands and Working Environment
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods, and perform all functions as set forth above 
  • Ability to work varied hours/days, including holidays, as needed  

Education and Experience
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Passion for working with the public and sharing a servant’s heart
  • Transferable skills in Customer Service, Money Management and/or Math application
  • Interest in gaining Hospitality Management experience
  • Experience working in the retail and/or hospitality industry
