  • Responsibilities include coordinating project information, managing submittals and reports, and ensuring job schedules and budgets are met.

  • Candidates should be organized, proactive, and comfortable communicating with various stakeholders in a dynamic work environment.

United Contractor Services is adding an Assistant Project Manager to support active commercial interior work - metal framing and drywall, acoustical ceilings, EIFS and stucco, painting, and Division 8 and Division 10 specialties. You'll report to a veteran Project Manager and own the coordination, paperwork, and follow-through that keeps a job on schedule. The seat gives you a close-up view of how projects actually get run, and it's the usual path to running your own.

Who We Are

UCS self-performs its scope on commercial interior projects nationwide, out of a headquarters in Kennesaw, Georgia. We're a multi-craft specialty subcontractor and rank in the Top 50 Walls and Ceilings contractors in North America. Because we don't broker our work out to third parties, the crews are ours and so is the responsibility when something needs fixing.

What the Job Looks Like

Most of your day is spent making sure the office and the jobsite are working off the same information. That means:

  • Serving as the connection point between your PM, field supervision, general contractors, and suppliers
  • Supporting schedule development, crew planning, and material logistics so the job holds its dates and its budget
  • Managing submittals, RFIs, change orders, and daily reports, and keeping the project file current
  • Coordinating with field leadership on installation quality and workmanship standards, including punch list closeout
  • Monitoring quantities and job costs, and raising red flags to the PM early
  • Clearing obstacles as they come up - a material that didn't ship, a trade conflict in the field, an approval sitting on someone's desk

What We're Looking For

  • A degree in Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field. Comparable field or office experience will be weighed on its own merits.
  • 1+ years in commercial construction, project coordination, or a comparable support position
  • Ability to read drawings and specifications, or the drive to pick it up fast
  • Working command of Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Familiarity with Procore, Bluebeam, or similar platforms is a plus

The Right Fit

The Assistant PMs who do well with us are organized, straightforward, and comfortable going after an answer rather than waiting on one. You'll spend your day dealing with superintendents, GC project engineers, and vendors, so clear communication and the willingness to hold people to their word count for more than polish. You'll carry more than one job at a time and the priorities will move on you. Anyone looking for a set routine that repeats itself daily should pass on this one.

Pay and Benefits

  • Salary set according to experience
  • Complete benefits package
  • Mentorship from Project Managers who came up through the trades
  • A real track into a Project Manager role for those who earn it
