Pay Range: $39,408314 - $49,260.17

 

General Summary: Performs manual tasks and operates equipment for the specific purpose of maintaining the cleanliness of the Airport Terminal and related facilities.  In the absence of a Building Service Supervisor, supervises, trains, and coordinates activities for Custodians engaged in cleaning and maintaining Airport terminal and various other Commission owned buildings.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Collects and removes trash from various containers inside and outside of the Airport Terminal and other Commission-owned buildings. Dispose of trash at the designated disposal areas.  
  • Maintains all types of ceiling and wall surfaces, i.e., acoustic tile, metal slat, acrylic, vinyl, carpet, etc.
  • Make recommendations to the Environmental Services Supervisor regarding personnel matters.
  • Maintain all types of flooring surfaces, i.e., ceramic, vinyl floor tile and carpet using various types of manual and automated cleaning processes including foam and steam extraction.
  • Cleans and maintains Commission offices and all public areas including but not limited to, restrooms, passenger ready areas, conference rooms, counters, etc. This includes but is not limited to dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, and mopping.
  • Cleans and maintains areas outside Terminal Building including sidewalks, breezeways, etc.  This includes picking up trash and trash removal.  


Requirements:

  • Must possess a valid Virginia Motor Vehicle Operator's License.
  • Must be able to workday, evening, and night shift.
  • Must be able to perform manual labor such as lifting a minimum of 30 lbs. 
  • Must be able to perform manual labor such as transporting a minimum of 50 lbs. by cart.
  • Must have High School diploma or equivalent.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, other Commission personnel, tenants, and the general public.
  • Ability to perform work with a positive attitude and in a professional manner at all times.
  • Ability to present a professional image to the community and to interact with the public.
  • Must be able to perform manual labor such as lifting and transporting a minimum of 30 pounds.
  • Must be willing and able to learn cleaning techniques for existing surfaces.  This includes operation of any existing equipment used by the department to maintain the facility such as buffers, scrubbing machines, vacuums (handheld and industrial size). 
  • As new equipment is purchased, or new cleaning techniques introduced, employees must be able to immediately begin applying newly acquired skills in day-to-day assignments.
  • Ability to plan and direct the work of others.

 

Education:

  • Must have a High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Three (3) years of supervisory experience in the custodial maintenance of large buildings or facilities.
