JOB SUMMARY:This position is responsible for system management functions for all shared computer system platforms and operating systems. This includes capacity planning, security administration, ensuring data integrity, data backup and recovery, system performance tuning, system software installation / upgrades, and general troubleshooting.

JOB SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Perform system management functions for all Linux-based hardware platforms. These responsibilities include but are not limited to server lifecycle management (provisioning, modifying, decommissioning), operating system patching, configuration management, verifying successful backups are being performed daily, monitoring and reporting disk usage, monitoring system performance, monitor and adjust database storage requirements, defining and maintaining printer definitions, assuring the systems are always available on the network.
• Perform system management functions for all AIX-based hardware and all Windows server platforms. These responsibilities include but are not limited to server lifecycle management (provisioning, modifying, decommissioning), operating system patching, configuration management, verifying successful backups are being performed daily, monitoring and reporting disk usage, monitoring system performance, monitoring and adjusting database storage requirements, defining, and maintaining printer definitions, and assuring the systems are always available on the network.
• Centralized System Management Application Administration: Manage application used to push updates, packages/applications, and configuration management to servers and endpoints.
• Centralized anti-virus management for servers.
• Monitor nightly backup logs to ensure servers and databases were properly backed up. Investigate and remediate servers that did not backup.
• Monitor server performance/functionality using various monitoring tools
• Complete assignments delegated by the supervisor in a timely and accurate fashion.
• Log all activities in the ticketing management system.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Must have a degree in MIS or related field, or a minimum of two years of experience in supporting, maintaining and managing datacenter systems.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Highly technical, troubleshooting skills.
Effective written and oral communication skills.
Ability to research issues and apply learned knowledge to provide resolution.
Linux, AIX, and Windows server administration.
Ability to mentor and help grow other team members.
Scripting capabilities (PowerShell, Python, Bash, etc...)
General knowledge of how both server virtualization and enterprise networks work and how communication flows across that network.
Well-rounded understanding of how enterprise server systems work to support applications used by end users.
In-depth knowledge of how Active Directly and Group Policy works.
INTERACTION WITH OTHER DEPARTMENTS AND OTHER RELATIONSHIPS:
This position works closely with multiple departments, outside of IT, across the organization to accomplish tasks/goals/requirements.
PHYSICAL CAPABILITIES:
Ability to lift PC and network peripherals, none to exceed 75 lbs. Adequate hand/eye coordination and fine motor skills required for typing. Listening and talking is essential in dealing with co-workers and customers.
ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS:
Works in a well-lit, heated, and ventilated building. Hours may vary to accommodate needs of other departments. Many systems management functions can only be performed during non-peak hours.
this position qualifies for a hybrid on-site/remote work location. Hybrid remote allows for three days a week to work remotely, and two days a week to work on site.
Work may happen after hours, sometimes scheduled and sometimes unscheduled (during downtimes).
After hours work may involve remote work, or it may involve on-site work.
