                            The scheduled work hours for this position are:

                            Monday through Friday, 5:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.



SUMMARY:

Supervises the daily operations of GRTC’s bus servicing lanes, ensuring all vehicles are cleaned, fueled, and prepared for service on time. Leads service attendants and utility staff, coordinates bus flow during pull-in/pull-out, and ensures compliance with safety, environmental, and operational standards. Monitors fueling systems (diesel/CNG/electric), maintains service records, and communicates with maintenance and operations teams to keep the fleet reliable, presentable, and service-ready for Richmond riders.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 
  • Supervise staff who handle bus fueling, washing, interior cleaning, and basic servicing
  • Coordinate daily workflow so buses are processed efficiently between shifts
  • Monitor fuel operations, including diesel/CNG/electric charging systems, and track usage
  • Oversee cleaning standards, making sure buses meet sanitation and appearance requirements
  • Inspect buses for basic issues (fluid levels, visible damage, safety concerns) and report them to maintenance teams
  • Ensure safety compliance with workplace, environmental, and fuel-handling regulations
  • Manage schedules and assignments for service lane employees
  • Handle minor troubleshooting of equipment like fuel pumps, wash systems, or vacuum stations
  • Maintain records of fueling, cleaning, and servicing activities
  • Coordinate with mechanics and operations to prioritize buses needed for service

OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED:
In accordance with our mission statement, additional duties and / or tasks may be assigned to continue seamless service for the agency.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Directs staff of mechanics and maintenance staff.



QUALIFICATIONS:

 Education and/or Experience
•    High school education and/or equivalent required.
•    3 to 5 years of experience as a bus repair and overhaul mechanic specializing in diesel equipment.
•    Experience supervising mechanics and/or service employees, preferably in a mass transit setting.
•    Valid Virginia CDL B with Passenger endorsement is required with +3 points


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

•    Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
•    Excellent interpersonal skills required.
•    Ability to work with computerized maintenance software systems required.
