Overview:
This hands-on role is responsible for the Safety department of this facility and requires being on-call, being active on the production floor, and managing relevant administrative duties.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Plans and presents weekly Safety Meetings
- Provides 24-hour on-call responses to all safety incidents such as employee injury or fire alarm
- Supports safety as a top priority in training, job design, employee onboarding, and regulatory compliance
- Commits to overall safety of the plant and procedures
- Performs strategic thinking and actively participates in plant and company processes
- Builds and retains a “customer focused” environment; including internal and external customers
- Communicates the needs of all safety operations functions to the Production Manager and or Plant Manager and local Management team on an as needed basis
- Develops and analyzes new methods of reducing/avoiding costs, improving products and assuring a safe working environment
- Investigates incidents, monitors medical care
- Creates and conducts the new-hire safety orientation program
- Monitors light duty program: develops jobs, communicates with physician/doctor, etc
- Completes and maintains all paperwork with regards to work-related incidents
- Assists Divisional Safety Manager in filing workers compensation insurance related information and obtaining quotes
- Assists Divisional Safety Manager in purchasing safety equipment and systems
- Maintains membership in applicable safety or environmental associations to stay informed of new developments and trends
- Prepares legal notices, postings, and reports as required by government and regulatory bodies
- Complies with company policies and procedures
- Additional duties as assigned by management
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Safety experience in manufacturing
- Proven interpersonal communication and presentation skills
- Proven ability to be detail-oriented
- Previous leadership experience in manufacturing preferred
- Bilingual - English & Spanish a plus!
Required Skills:
- Technical Skills
- Equipment design and capabilities that can be translated into efficient operation.
- Cost issues in order to make daily decisions that will reduce overall costs and will help the supervisor find areas that require improvement.
- Regulatory requirements including but not limited to wage and hour requirements, environmental and waste minimization, company policies, and personnel requirements including OSHA, DEQ and EEO.

- May be required to maintain a current Lift Truck Operator License and/or other appropriate certification to work in certain areas or on certain equipment
Physical Demands:
- Physical demands: Standing, sitting, walking, push/pull, ability to lift/carry 10lbs-50lbs.
- Must be able to work in a Manufacturing environment if required. Sometimes noisy, dirty, dusty, and hot and cold temperatures.
- Must successfully pass Company pre-employment screening
Work Environment:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.
- The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.
- The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and vibration.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
