Job Summary:
The Sheet Extrusion Production Manager, direct and results driven, will lead operations at our Richmond facility. This role will direct all sheet extrusion production activities—including the enforcement of safety, quality, production, and maintenance policies—while championing continuous improvement and operational discipline. This role will directly supervise sheet extrusion department supervisors and floor personnel, driving accountability, OEE optimization, and waste reduction across several extrusion assets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safety & Policy Leadership: Develop, administer, and enforce rigorous policies and procedures for the sheet extrusion department, prioritizing safe operating practices and optimized process conditions.
- Performance Management: Manage the performance of production crews by tracking and reviewing critical metrics—including waste, run rates, downtime, OEE, and efficiency—and guiding corrective actions when deviations occur.
- Technical & Process Direction: Provide hands-on technical guidance and direction to supervisors & operators to enhance operator efficiency. Act as the primary liaison with equipment manufacturers, material vendors, and internal R&D teams.Â
- Cross-Functional Coordination: Partner closely with maintenance, engineering, and quality teams to streamline workflows, prioritize work orders, and execute structured root-cause analysis (5-Why, corrective actions, and verification of effectiveness).
- Operational Excellence: Drive 5S, world-class housekeeping, and quality assurance across the department. Respond to after-hour calls as required by the escalation policy.
- Data Integrity: Maintain accurate production records for all work orders and ensure daily, disciplined utilization of tracker data and ERP systems.
- Continuous Improvement: Spearhead continuous improvement initiatives to drive down scrap rates, optimize labor efficiency, and boost throughput.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
 Job Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Operations Management, Business, or a related technical field preferred.Â
- At least five years of production management experience.
- Experience in at least of the following industries is a plus: plastic extrusion, laminating, coating, injection molding, blown or cast films.
- Must have organizational skills with an ability to prioritize and multi-task.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, exceptional diligence, and good follow-up skills.
- Strong computer skills in Excel (pivot tables, formulas, etc.) and Word
