  • Makes repairs on all equipment and vehicles; makes on-the-road repairs.
  • Performs scheduled maintenance on department vehicles and equipment.
  • Performs road tests on equipment.
  • Performs welding duties and fabricates materials to fit.
  • Orders and picks-up parts and records and files reports on equipment and machines repaired.
  • Instructs mechanic helpers.
  • Held accountable for equipment used and uniforms issued.
  • Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • 2 years of related experience as a Mechanic (or Mechanic Helper).
  • Knowledge of automotive maintenance and repair, or certification in different fields of mechanical training.
  • Ability to complete assignments accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Good interpersonal skills; ability to deal effectively with other employees, and elected officials.

STARTING SALARY RANGE: $20.50 - $25.63 hourly based on qualifications
