We are looking for a highly capable Claims Assistant to help us on a temporary assignment through 6 March 2026 and work from our Richmond, Virginia office. The position reports to a Claims Support Supervisor, based in Richmond.Ā This roleĀ is responsible forĀ providing robust clerical support to our team of Claims Adjusters working across a wide variety of specialties and providing exceptional customer service to our brokers, claimants, and insureds.Ā As this is a temporary assignment, onlyĀ government mandatedĀ benefits will be provided.Ā

EssentialĀ Responsibilities:Ā
Provide clerical support to a nationwide team of claims adjusters and aid inĀ facilitatingĀ timelyĀ andĀ accurateĀ management of claims by entering stop/cancel/release of checks, processing cash receipts, work check exceptions, and completion of complex state forms
Keep our claims dataĀ accurateĀ by inputting data and policy information for new and existing claims.Ā
Extensively communicate with our customers and enhance their customer experience by ā answering incoming calls, processing electronic mail, preparing written correspondence, and processing outgoing mail.āÆĀ The majority ofĀ each workday is spent communicating on the telephone.Ā
Review each claim for payment, documenting date issued and check number. Researching financials to verify payment information.Ā
Review of outstanding checks for various claim systems and review applicableĀ systemĀ toĀ determineĀ if payment is still outstanding and/or returned, prepare letters as needed and document findings inĀ FSITrack.Ā
Under close supervision and guidance, provide clerical support to a nationwide team of claims adjusters and assist in facilitating timely and accurate management of claims by reviewing incoming mail, entering data, and completing complex claims related tasks.
Keep claims data accurate by entering and updating claim and policy information for new and existing claims.
Communicate with customers and internal partners by responding to electronic correspondence, making outbound calls, preparing written communications, and processing outgoing mail.
Manage daily claims draft activity, including returned drafts, stop payments, voids, duplicate draft reviews, printer and miscellaneous error corrections, and balance verification using standard reports. Maintain claims system accuracy by processing mail and activity requests received from claims adjusters.
Add and maintain Tax ID information for non-medical providers to support accurate billing and payment processing.
Escalate issues or discrepancies to appropriate personnel as identified.
Qualifications / Experience Required:Ā
Basic job knowledge of ServiceĀ CenterĀ policies, systems, and procedures, as well as an exceptional customer service focus obtained through:Ā Ā
Ā A high school diploma (or equivalent) and 3 yearsā prior relevant work experience preferably working in a commercial carrierās claims department or similar environment; orĀ
A vocational or technical education with at least one year of relevant work experience.Ā
Must have good business acumen (i.e. understand how an insurance company works and makes money, including how this role impacts both Argo Group and our customersā ability to be profitable).Ā
HighlyĀ accurateĀ typing with speed of at least 50 wpm.Ā
The ability to communicate clearly on the telephone is crucial.Ā Ā The ability to read, speak, and write English fluently is required.Ā Ā The ability to read, speak, and write Spanish fluently is notĀ required, but is a strong plus.Ā
