Job Details

Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking a skilled LTAC RN for a 0 week travel assignment in Richmond, Virginia. Required Qualifications:

  • One year of recent experience as a LTAC RN
  • Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
  • Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Other certifications or licenses may be required for this position

Summary:

Long-Term Acute Care (LTAC) nurses care for patients with complex medical needs who need more time to recover than in a typical hospital setting. These patients may be healing from surgery, managing chronic conditions, or recovering from illness and need consistent, attentive care. LTAC nurses manage ventilators, central lines, wound care, and complex medication plans, often stepping in as a bridge between the ICU and a traditional hospital floor.

Essential Work Functions:

  • Closely observe patients for changes in condition and respond early to prevent complications
  • Ability to manage and troubleshoot ventilators and trachs, ensuring airway stability and patient comfort
  • Provide consistent care for a range of wounds, including surgical sites, pressure injuries, and wound vac therapy
  • Maintain and monitor central lines, PICC lines, IVs and safely administer medications
  • Administer medications accurately while accounting for complex medication regimens and potential interactions
  • Coordinate with physicians, therapists, and case managers to ensure continuity and effectiveness of treatment plans
  • Prioritize care across multiple high-acuity patients while staying organized and flexible during changing conditions
  • Educate and support patients and families to help them understand care goals and discharge planning
  • Provide calm, supportive care during emotionally charged or crisis situations to maintain a therapeutic environment
  • Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice
  • Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards

Required Essential Skills:

  • Critical thinking, service excellence and good interpersonal communication skills
  • The ability to read, write, & communicate in the English language is required
  • Ability to read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PC skills
  • Physical Abilities - Remain in a stationary position, move about, move equipment (50-100lbs), pushing, pulling, bending
  • Interpersonal Skills - To work effectively with a variety of personnel (professional and ancillary) to present a positive attitude and professionalism
  • Technical/Motor Skills - Ability to grasp, fine manipulation, pushing/pulling and able to move about when assisting with procedures and/or using department equipment.
  • Mental Requirements - Must be able to cope with frequent contact with the general public, customers, and meeting deadlines under pressure. Must be able to work under close supervision occasionally as well as working without assistance from other personnel. Must be able to contend with irregular activity schedules occasionally and continuous concentration to detail
  • Sensory - Visual acuity, ability to effectively communicate.
